Anyone else having serious framerate issues with Mirror's Edge? It slows down to what basically just looks like a series of screenshots and it's unplayable.

Not gonna lie -- a big draw for me in the XB1 is the social aspects of it, especially regarding the NFL stuff. I'm a huge fantasy football nerd and being able to quickly Skype call anyone from my league while watching the game and shit talk them just sounds wonderful.

I want to make a poll to figure out if more people on MS will be getting XB1 or PS4 on release. My real life friends are pretty split between the two so I need

Tiny Brains (looks like Portal, with four players)
The 5 million free to play games coming out for PS4

I don't know. Like, neither lineup is super impressive at launch for exclusives. Infamous is coming next year, whatever, I didn't love the first one. Titanfall looks cool but still... it's no God of War or Last of Us or Uncharted. I'm at a loss :\

The main issue is that right now, I don't have any means of playing current generation games. I'm still playing shit on Pie's 360, which he'll inevitably want back very soon, and my PS3 was stolen by my shithead roommate. This is the first time in my life I haven't really had a console to play on, and I honestly feel like I'm missing out on some fantastic titles. There are also several games coming out right on the cusp of current gen/next gen (the one I'm most looking forward to is Watch Dogs), and I'm not wanting to purchase a game twice. I figure rather than go pick up a PS3 at the end of its life cycle or buy games for my 360 which will be irrelevant soon, I might as well just go next-gen.

Like... I understand launch consoles go bad or have issues or don't have the library, but it also seems like a waste to invest a couple hundred into a current gen console just to turn around and invest a couple more hundred a year from now in a next gen console.

Right, that's usually how it works when new consoles with small libraries are coming out. But my point was that investing a couple hundred in a PS3 seems silly when PS4 is just around the corner and I'll likely be going next gen soon.

I really don't think it's going to be an issue to pick up a PS4 or XB1 on launch day.

And... again, I'm not sure why I would wait a few months versus get one on launch? The price will still be the same, so what's the difference?

I have a 3DS XL.

The big screen is nice, I guess, but I've also noticed it scales the resolution of some games upwards REALLY poorly and makes it look distorted and weird. Maybe that's just for DS games.

New Animal Crossing is pretty good, even if the novelty wears off really quick; And from everything I've heard, X & Y blow Black & White out of the water (I'm going to probably pick them up tomorrow).

However, I'm not sure the 3D is worth it. I've played a couple of games where the 3D element actually added a lot to the game (specifically, Super Mario 3D Land) but overall it can just be annoying. I don't think I ever use it during Animal Crossing.

Verdict:

If you're going to be playing regular DS games on this bad boy, pick up a regular 3DS, the XL distorts the screen too much... if you don't mind the blockiness, get a 2DS.

Games to consider:

Pokemon X & Y, Super Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario Kart 7, Pushmo/Crashmo (eShop downloads, INSANELY AWESOME puzzle games)

If anyone has an extra internal HD sitting around, lemme know. Grimm's is only 80 gigs, he can usually only have like one game installed at a time and it's kinda sad.

I'm guessing that's an older board and an IDE drive?

I dunno about the harddrive...it was literally pulled out of an old computer and put in the machine when he built it. The motherboard, video card, etc are all new.
