I'm fine with Officers... and if their head raid leader is actually as good as they say, then I have no problem with him taking over the raid slot. One of you two can move up to co-raid leader or something. As far as the site goes, we have the domain name through tans, and I'm pretty sure we have some webspace too. But I don't wanna take away the site from someone who actually wants to work on it.

From our talks with their GM, I expect that he'll be okay with it, but his members will be hesitant and demand some stuff. I don't wanna go through with this if EVERYONE isn't 100% okay with it.

(And yes, I'm back. Boredom finally got the best of me tonight.)

@JD: Kai was confused - they don't have a domain name, we do.

They seem to be mostly focused on raiding, yes, but the talk of arena teams came up, and I'm sure we could nab people for heroics too.

In order for this merge to go successfully, we would have to give them some kind of say in the guild. If that meant me stepping down from Officer in order to give a council position to one of their people, I'd do it.

Of course I'm not sold on this either. We'll need to wait and hear back with what they say, first, which is what I said to the other GM and Kairyuu tonight.

Out of curiosity, who is randomly disappearing at the moment for the most part? I know me + BBM have been on a lot (I tend to disappear for a day or two when I get swamped with other projects, but I'm usually on at least once a day if not to get inscrip research on my mage), but come to think of it that's pretty much the only person I see on.

I feel that the likelihood of us getting together enough people for actual raiding funtimeses is highly unlikely at this juncture, and we should consider (as a group) abandoning ship. After thinking this over last night, I feel that we need to make a decision as to whether we shut down and move as a group or split up and do our own thing. I don't feel continuing on where we are is a tenable decision at this point in time, as we're very much the rudderless ship at the moment.

If we do move as a group, I don't really care where we go as long as they don't have some sort of minimum raid requirement - I'm never entirely sure of my schedule from week-to-week due to my keeping odd hours most of the time while working on various projects. I don't think I'd be able to commit to a full-on raiding schedule.

Right now I'm absolutely swamped with working 40hrs a week + having to take care of daily household duties + trying to nail down a new place to live. The earliest I could return to WoW would be in late August after the hours at my job have died down and I'm all moved in to my new place.

If you guys decide to close up shop on Modus Operandi, I would only ask that you guys pitch it as a merger so that some of the officers can still get high ranking positions in the new guild. Not for me -- when I come back it'll probably be in a limited capacity. But I'd also like the guild you guys find to be social/relaxed. Raiding group is fine, but not a hardcore raiding guild,etc.

Well, there's also the issue that if there's another guild about our size or perhaps a bit bigger, gaining that many level 85s in exchange for a bit of administrative power is a good deal for them.

I got the game Friday evening, made a level 80 Mage, and I am up to 88 now. The zones are really well done, and the storyline actually interests me more than the Deathwing/Twilight shit in Cataclysm. Probably because it is original content and not steeped in convoluted history and lore. You actually feel like you're discovering a new world. Pandaren are still a dumb race, but the zones are cool. And the instances I've run so far are pretty good.

New daily quests system is superb, too. Makes grinding reputation feel like less of a grind.

We won't have Scorch anymore. This is specifically a nerf to Arcane Mages, whose Mastery relies on having a lot of mana. So the old idea was "spam your Arcane Blast to get stacks of Arcane Charge, then when you drop below 90% mana spam Scorch to keep DPS up while you regen". Now, we don't have Scorch, so we have no filler spell to let us regen mana. I have no clue what's going to happen -- I imagine it'll be "stack up to max charges, then dump everything with a Arcane Barrage, then Evocate, then stack again" but it's definitely gonna hard nerf overall DPS for all mage specs.

Like our DPS is "insane" if all we do is stand still for a full 5-10 minute boss fight, but how many bosses let us do that? Our main sources of damage, Arcane Blast & Arcane Missiles, can't be cast on the run, so we have to be stationary. Rune of Power is a huge DPS buff for us, but we can only cast two at a time, they last for 60 seconds, and we have a tiny radius that we have to stand completely still inside of in order to take full benefit.

That being said, I'm really not seeing where Arcane is 20-25% higher DPS than the next closest class. Noxxic (which uses Simcraft not actual numbers) has Arcane at 117k max/100k realistic, and the next closest classes are only about 3-4k behind. WoL has way more fire mages, afflication locks, and prot pallies above us on DPS for most of the fights. The only fight I see where Arcane Mages are #1 is the first encounter in HoF.

Thinking of leveling an alt...probably a Druid/Monk. I just want to get the most bang for my buck if I buy Heirloom gear, and Plate heirloom gear seems dumb since most classes don't get it until 40

If I did a Plate class, it'd probably be Warrior. Paladins are overpopulating this server (and I think they're the most played class in general), and DKs don't give me the full experience.

For mail classes, I've already leveled a Shaman to max level on my other server, and Hunters just seem boring/lame to me.

Leather classes opens up Rogue, Druid, and Monk, all of which I would consider rolling (except maybe Rogue because I hear they're pretty shitty in leveling).

As for cloth, I've already maxed out a Mage and a Priest, and my good friend has a Warlock already, so I won't be running that.

Essentially, I'm looking at Warrior, Monk, or Druid.

Krasarang was pretty bad early on, it got better near the end when the questlines started actually mattering in the grand scheme of things (right before it sends you back to VotFW to stop the mantids). I really enjoyed Kun-Lai Summit, it was painless and fun. I had heard horror stories about Townlong Steppes, and someone advised me that if I hit 89 while doing Kun-Lai, to just finish out Kun-Lai and get someone with a two seater to fly me over to the starting hub in Dread Wastes, so I did that, and it was fine.

Some parts of Dread Wastes are a pain in the ass because there are a ton of mobs everywhere, and a lot of mobs have knockbacks that cause you to aggro other mobs, but if you play around it and play smart it's fine... plus, the Dread Wastes plotline is actually really cool IMO

Arcane Barrage's damage has been reduced by 13.6%.
Arcane Charges now stacks up to 4 times (was 6), increases damage by 50% (was 25%), and increases mana cost by 150% (was 75%).

Fire

Scorch is no longer a talent and is now available to all Fire Mages.

Frost

Fingers of Frost now has a 15% (was 12%) chance to activate from Frostbolt, Frostfire Bolt and Frozen Orb, and a 5% (was 4%) chance to activate from Blizzard.
Glyph of Ice Lance now causes Ice Lance to deal 50% damage to 1 additional target, up from 40%.
Frostbolt now deals 32% more damage. but its debuff no longer increases subsequent Frostbolt damage.
Water Elemental

Freeze no longer does damage and only provides Fingers of Frost on a successful freeze.

so basically... idk what the new mage rotation will look like at all, and holy shit they buffed Frost which was already going to town in arena, and the top 25man guild is nixing all mages to get boomkins/locks instead

Raiding isn't nearly as difficult as you'd think. I bitch a lot in this thread about OMG DPS NERFS but most guilds aren't hardcore "RAID FIRST!" raiding guilds, and as long as you're hitting some easily attainable minimum DPS mark, the only hurdle is learning the fights. Most of which come down to: DPS the boss, kill the adds, and don't stand in shit. Anything more complicated is usually not on the DPS to figure out, but on the tanks to manage aggro for the fights.

I'm very curious with how a WoW movie would work. The title of the film is tentatively called 'Warcraft', which means they could delve into pre-WoW storylines. None of the WoW storylines really provide a stand alone film plot --

possibly

the Lich King story, but there's so much backstory to that and it'd be hard to convey all of that in a timely manner. Perhaps the original Fall of Arthas when he originally became corrupted could work.

I have a feeling that they're going to have to focus on an Alliance-based perspective on the film, since it's going to be hard to get an audience to identify with Orcs/Goblins/Zombies/Cow-People as opposed to typical fantasy "good guy" races like Humans/Elves/Dwarves. That sucks, because it means Thrall (perhaps the most interesting Warcraft character) would either be non-existent, or a villain.

Meh, I mean, it's fun. I'm enjoying it mostly as a single player experience, because I'm really into my character/the story I'm creating. I always felt the narrative in WoW was weak, and SWTOR blows it out of the water. Questing is of a similar structure of kill quests/gather quests, but I think SWTOR has streamlined many things that are antiquated in WoW (crafting isn't a grind because you can send NPCs to do it; you can keep the appearance of any gear you want through their modular gear system). Not to mention, SWTOR has some awesome shit that WoW doesn't have, from on-rails Starfox 64-style space combat missions to actual Galactic Starfighter PvP (very difficult but a ton of fun). Hell, I've hated PvP in every game I've played, but SWTOR's PvP is fun as hell.

Honestly enjoying myself so far. Leveling is a slow, steady pace so you have time to sit back and enjoy the world instead of just rushing to endgame. Loving the story, loving the atmosphere, loving p much everything about it.

That's the issue joining in an MMO fresh this late into the life cycle. Most of the content is at max level and you've got to clear everything else first.

You won't ever find people running old raids at recommended level because the players who know how to do that aren't just going to keep toons sitting around at 75/80 to run raids, they're going to have max level characters.

Once you get LFR access you can run each wing of the Pandaria raids once per week (or at least loot each boss once per week) and that makes it much easier. Just make sure you study up and learn the fights beforehand so you're not one of those guys who winds up standing on the floor too long in the Elegon fight and winds up dropping to his death.

Hmm. If I'm recalling correctly, I've got:

Lvl 90 Mage
Lvl 86 Monk
Lvl 85 Priest
Lvl 85 Shaman

So, I'd probably rather just grind those guys up and not get a free level 90, which leaves me with:

Death Knight: Probably not worth upping to 90 over another class that doesn't get the free 50 levels.
Rogue: I played a Rogue to level 60 back in the day, and was rather lukewarm. Plus, I hate PvP, and that seems to be a rogue's bread and butter.
Paladin: Maybe. I like the versatility but melee classes in WoW have never been my thing (which is funny, since I love melee in every other MMO).
Warlock: Had one once. Couldn't figure the damn things out. Their main spec (the DoT one) seems boring as fuck.
Druid: I feel like Druid has always just been shit since I've played, and that rDPS Druid is literally worthless (the Boomkin or whatever).
Hunter: Pet class, ew. Are there any variations on Hunter that don't use a pet?
Warrior: I think Warrior is the ONE class I've never played.

I've decided 'no' on Death Knight (level 50 ez), Druid (currently people are saying Druids are in a bad spot on PBE), and Warlock (my good friend already runs a Warlock and is top 20 in NA so I'll never be able to compete with that for a raid slot).

Which leaves me with Rogue, Paladin, Hunter, or Warrior.

I currently have: DPS, DPS/Tank/Heals, DPS/Heals, DPS/Heals.

I probably want a DPS/Tank or pure DPS class. Likely not going to roll Paladin.

Rogue, Hunter, or Warrior.

I have FOUR ranged DPS classes already near max level, don't think I need another. Bye, Hunter.

Fire/Arcane are both in a bad place right now because they have no mobility and people are crying a lot. Frost is probably top mage spec right now just because it can do more things while moving and has more instant casts (plus it doesn't really need Rune of Power).

It should be quicker than that, really... I'm iLvl 625 right now and I've barely played. You'll run the Lvl 100 dungeons a couple of times, get iLvl 615, then you can start gearing up. I'd imagine 630 is what people are going to want for their normal runs. LFR Highmaul will be iLvl 615 requirement, same as Heroics.

(As an aside, I think Heroics are supposed to be as difficult as LFR now and give out the same iLvl rewards.)

When you hit Lvl 100, finish Nagrand quests anyway. They'll give you some gear that'll help get your iLvl up. Also, start doing your Apexis Crystals daily in your garrison immediately, as you need about 5000 crystals to complete the Legendary ring quest. The ring you get for completing Act 1 of Khadgar's quest is iLvl 640. You can also be patient and stomach a full run of MC40 for the 10th anniversary thing, and you'll get a sweet mount + iLvl 640 epic helm for your troubles.

Warriors are in such a stupid state right now.

You do shit DPS as Fury/Arms in the early iLvls, so you have to gear as Protection (Gladiator) in order to be competitive... but then, once you start climbing in gear level, Gladiator stance becomes utter trash and you need to do Fury, which has a completely separate set of secondary stats.

Glad Warrior feels like old school Fury. Build, build, build, dump all the rage in a 5 second window. Then repeat.

New Fury is pretty much a giant procfest, no real rage dump mechanic... just keep rage teetering around 70, if you go over use heroic strike to dump, otherwise use whatever procs pop up.

I need to figure out the gear level breakpoint for Gladiator/Fury in terms of theoretical DPS.

Well, same difference.

Right now, my much simpler/easier DPS rotation with Fury is being dominated by my super complex/timing based/harder DPS rotation with Gladiator.

I actually only understand how to play Gladiator in a vague manner and most of it just winds up being button mashing, and I'm still crushing my Fury DPS.
