I just started playing this game against bots and have the basics down. But the bots seem pretty predictable and things like lane assignments and warding isn't important there, so what should I know before I play a real game? I've played mostly Soraka, Garen and Katarina.

I'm beginning to think the laning and team composition meta doesn't matter for low level normal games. People just play whatever they want and dont get upset when a role isnt used correctly. I dont envy you ranked guys.
Also Katarina's everywhere. Katarina as far as the eye can see

I just played Graves and couldn't figure out when to use his quickdraw. The few times I tried it out on enemies trying to run away, I still couldn't finish them off and usually got in a bad position where other enemies could grab me. All his other abilities were great though.
I also played Viktor for the first time and couldn't figure out his anything.

Is that an old picture of Ashe in the bottom left? She doesn't look very wintry.
Also liking the new Sona splash. It seems like a few need art updates more but are probably low priority if its true they're unpopular (Karma, Poppy, Evelynn, Sion?)

Most people have just said noob when i feed and left it at that. That's probably as civil as it can get so I'll take it. But I guess it would feel like more of an insult in ranked where bad players are not likely to be very new.
Except maybe jungler which I don't see anyone play on normal

As a former low-level noob and current mid-level noob, I'd recommend playing against people because everyone will make mistakes and have sub-par items. Bots are probably going to be harder to kill because of how enemies turtle and allies don't push lanes or help you in a fight unless they are two feet away.
As for items it took me a while to realize its better to buy components to a really good, really expensive item, than to buy whatever cheap thing you can get at the time. Like the avarice blade is cheap but it doesn't do damage or build into anything that does much damage or keep you from dying. That pickaxe can be turned into an infinity edge which does a ton of damage.

Yeah I mostly stick with recommended items and look at each ones stats to see which have the offensive or defensive stats I want. And you can click on each one to see the tree of cheaper items you would buy first that will turn into the expensive item once you have all of them.
So if I wanted to play defensively as gangplank but still have a little damage to keep up with my opponent I'd go with a Phage since it has extra health and damage. But its expensive so you'd first buy a long sword for a little damage and a ruby crystal for a little health, then upgrade those two into the phage for better stats.

I think they wanted you to help yourself to some of their minions.
I have a lot of fun playing Vi jungle. I've been getting into a habit of only wanting to play her for that role though, instead of trying out whoever is free this week.

I played against an all support team with a sona / soraka bot lane. The heals were so good, but surprisingly none of them bought wards so we started to catch people out and win pretty easily.

KScope! You'll like this game. There isnt much jumping or camping. I think I waited until level 9 or 10 to play pvp and they matched me against other brand new players so it was fine.
Hiya. There's a few tutorial levels that are worth playing once if you are new to MOBA's in general. And depending on how comfortable you are you can play co-op vs ai / custom games by yourself for a while or play normal pvp right away. You're matched against other new players so its unlikely people will act toxic and yell if you make a mistake.
Also starting out buying recommended items is fine and playing any champ in any lane is normal until your account is around level 15.

Wow you got to 30 fast zor. Good luck in ranked.
I'm actually doing my placements now too. It seemed like the first few games were against other unrankeds and people were being more agreeable and cautious than usual.

Nami is good if you want ranged poke and a heal. The downside is that her bubble and ult can be tough to land.
Lulu has great poke but no hard cc and only a shield before 6, so its harder to play with an inexperienced adc.
But if the opponent has Sona I'd rather go with an all-in like Leona or Thresh than try to outlast a Sona.

We are. I'll be on later today.
And Pope, you pay 490rp to gift someone a skin for a champ they own that could be worth that price, or it could be legendary, legacy, etc. And if you have hardly any skins like I do, even a cheap one sounds nice.
