SO for the new server you have a sp7.2 and sp7.1 which is needed?

Also the link isn't currently working for google drive it's just giving an error.

So, I keep getting a bunch of Mod Rejections when trying to connect. What steps do I take with multimc?

1-Make a Vanilla instance with Minecraft 1.11.2
2-Add the forge version .2476 (there is only one version compatible with 1.11.2 that ends with that number)
3-Run that just to make sure everything took.
4-Download SP7.2 and copy the config and mods folders over the same folders in your instance directory.
5-Things should work then :)

I think Forge is at 2386, not 2476.

I wasn't copying the mod and configs into the minecraft folder I was doin it one level up from that. Could be why it wasn't working. Only got 4gb in my desktop right now and it doesn't want to get through initializing everything.

Yeah, I read what was in the OP rather than what we had in the instance. And yeah, I initially had 4GB allocated for the instance and ran into some problems. Initializing the front end of he instance taking almost the entire 4 gigs was one of them.

I always recommend just getting the latest forge as it will work with any mods written with for previous forge versions (for that mc version of course) and it also allows for easy updates without having to maybe troubleshoot and discover forge also needs updating.

It allows for "easier" updates until there's a new Recommended version. The problem lies with the fact that there's a new Recommended version
MUCH
less often than there is a new Latest version, and you might as well use every Recommended version since that version is "Recommended" to mod authors as well as players - the vast majority of mods won't be built around non-Recommended versions of Forge.

Alright. Was still crashing after i got the mod and config folder in the right place. Pretty sure it was lack of ram. I gave it 6 gigs and so far it seems fine.

Aphix, how old is your system? What're your GPU specs? Tossing better dog food to a dog doesn't get it any closer to being able to take the SATs. If your GPU is too old or too low-quality or too worn down after a lot of stressful work over a long period of time, more RAM won't help you.

Also, because of how RAM is accessed on your system for Java, it was my understanding that you should avoid allocating a partial module, e.g. 4 GB (either in in the form of 1x4 GB module or 2x2 GB modules) is fine, but if you only have 2x4 GB modules, don't allocate 6 GB of RAM, therefore allocating only 2 GB of one of the 4 GB modules to Java.

The way it was explained to me, Java can try to "fight" your system for the extra RAM in the module that's "broken up" and your performance can take a huge hit (I guess because Java thinks it should have more RAM to use than it does, and doesn't adjust accordingly).

Well I messed with some settings and was getting 60fps but with things turned way down, but with those java settings it drops to 30 but I'll play around with everything, sure to figure it out a stable 30 is probably playable for me anyways.

GPU is a Radeon R7 370, not super super old in terms of being worn down or anything. It's not amazing but most games I can play at fairly decent settings.

I'm sure we could make a new one. I'm kind of out of the loop these days due to work/school obligations. What's the latest with vanilla mc updates? 12.1 or something right?

The main concerns are that world seeds sometimes get fucky between versions when using a server and previously-generated chunks aren’t populated with content from the new version.

I've been meaning to set up a new "vanilla with sprinkles", the sprinkles being enough modded framework to allow things like maps and IRC. But I've had early work mornings and tomorrow is even earlier.

But they do need serverside to have forge so that the client forge matches. ;)

He’s saying even if the server doesn’t have Forge at all as long as they’re the same Minecraft version, you can have Forge + JM on your client. That’s always been true. I used to do it on old Vanilla all the time, and that was actually Bukkt so you’d think they might not play nice but they work fine.
