Man I see this thread and go man I should play this again.
But it won't be the same experience as it was years ago.
I mean, if we did events or some crap again I might re-download it for an Ender Run or something.
That'd still be swell.
But unless there's a good amount of people here I don't see myself coming back because nothing can replace romping through unexplored caves with UT and Rhinox screaming YES THERES A CREEPER BEHIND ME.

I enjoy it as an occasional thing I think, but I just can't dedicate the time to every day. But I would be all over a race for the wool/PVP survival games type thing. (even though I'd be rubbish). If I ever had enough time, I'd love to try and make one.
Also, as a relative beginner, both this and the last one I did (skyblock) it appeared to me how ahead everyone is. I like the idea of everyone else, but after a few times, people were talking about expanding the river network and there is a massive pyramid next to my redstone house and there is a glass tower and I can't even lead a fucking horse through the nether so I can own an animal of my own. (tbf that was dumb, and I got it to the exit portal and somehow it died as it went through) I don't know, I enjoy seeing what you guys do, but I do feel a bit inadequate when I see you have already defeated the end and made blaze grinders etc. and Im still trying to ensure I can survive the nether effectively. And yeah... I was the one who discovered turnips and I made a house out of redstone blocks, and I made the sally and martin the iron golems and I learnt a few things but when people are making automated food thingies and I discovered what I assume to be a fully automated village I'm not sure what I gain from being on this multiplayer server?
It was the same with the skyblock, I spent ages trying to build an automated farm, and whilst I was sharing with ETL and she was magnificent in her generosity, along with all the other users who smelteries I kept dying in, I eventually found that people were so far ahead in what they were doing that A. my laptop couldn't cope (I have an all powerful desktop now so should be fine) and B. I had nowhere really to go, everything seemed to be done. I could have done something else, but it felt pointless when someone had already made a thing.
So yeah tl'dr version is that I enjoy watching people do amazing things on both the vanilla server and minecraft, but I'm not sure, as a very novice person who can't be on all the time, I do wonder what my purpose is on the server, I feel that at best I do nothing, at worse I get in peoples way. (although the last number of times I've been on, noone else has). It's not a problem that can be fixed, Im a relative beginner, you guys are obviously advanced or expert at this. I enjoy the game, I enjoy watching you guys build but I lose my way quickly as I don't feel I bring anything (except turnips) to the table.

Like, Ender Run was perfect because we did it in like, 5(?) hours with ten people.
We all worked together to accomplish the goal.
Idk what everyone else did but I was the food provider and the run into dark places and scream if there's bad stuff or not guy.
Skill not necessarily required because we're all working together and even in food procurement there's room for innovation like the chicken/egg farm etc etc

So M and I are gonna be having a dedicated events server, vanilla, running different PvP events, adventure maps, and whatnot. We're still working out details, but there'll be something up soon for us to come together as a community to play
i want to play again but i lose motivation every time im about to download it bc im like "oh wow there's already so much developed probably what else is there for me to do"
I tried to get on modded last night, but it's been so long.
I downloaded ATLauncher and made an instance of Bevo 2.0 (I also did the latest version earlier but realised that was wrong)
I replaced the config folder
I put the two other mods in the mods folder
I downloaded MultiMC created a file of vanilla file and downloaded forge.
I tried to enter through MultiMC and got a huge ass error message
I deleted a mod that I was told to and still got an error.
I tried following the instructions from the blog but wasnt sure if that was out of date or if I was needlessly complicating things?

Oh, looks like ETL forgot to put the mod disable instructions in the OP, and the blog is way out of date.
Matter Overdrive was causing problems, so it needs to be disabled.

My server is on the 8gb version cloud because maestro and I find ourselves needing to run 2 servers, sometimes 3, and we like the flexiblity that the cloud hosting offers to us.
if youre just gonna run a single server, vanilla only, i would recommend you go with the 3 gb plan from https://exileservers.com/minecraft-hosting (Mossy Cobble) That should absolutely fill all the vanilla requirements you might desire. And it's upgradeable if you find yourself needing more space later on.

About the events server, a pure "race to beat the enddragon" vanilla event seems like it's interesting to several of you- please feel free to pm me with ideas other than that, i can try and work out a schedule so that nice events happen frequently and you all can partake. Maybe we'll have a "long term" map during weekdays (monday-Friday) such as end dragon run, adventure maps, super hostile, and/or whatever else we think of, and host special pvp challenges and oneshot events such as Walls and Race to the Wool during the weekends.
Most likely we can start doing that kind of stuff on monday. (Jan 9) We'll start off with a brand new vanilla world, you guys can come together and work together to beat the end dragon. If one of you would be willing to run a skype channel or discord or something, that'd be fine with us.

i couldn't get into this last time because getting all the modding stuff set up was a hassle, but i'd be interested in chilling on a vanilla server, sure.
