What we're currently waiting on is an incompatibility between Mekanism and a mod that Dark Utilities is dependent on.
We can wait for an official Mekanism update, or possibly use an unofficial fork in hopes that it won't break when the official one comes out, or go forward without the things that depend on that library.
If we go forward and the later update breaks it, we'd have to choose between not updating or starting a new world.

Play testing is going very well. I'm comfortable with the pack as is, without DarkUtils (and whatever those other mods were). I have one remaining open question related to Thermal Foundation Platinum which I'm not seeing for some reason. Surprisingly, the last time I checked memory it was only taking 1.9GB working set in SSP, but that was before a nether trip.

Tinkers just got released for 1.12 so that's one down. EIO's author is waging a "bug me and I will go slow on update" war with some people so might not be updated for a LONG time. Vazik has quark and PSI working for 1.12 so botania should be along shortly.

I'm on the 1.11.2 version atm.

Just as I thought all was well, the golden lasso recipe is different from what I remember and also it doesn't work and when I tried to look in the ingame manual it didn't open either. But it was working fine on another pack so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Like OpenComputers...?

Also, @Oso - you can find a post on Azanor's website detailing the fact that he's taking a long break from TC development, and since it's not open source and never has been, that means no TC for awhile. I would HIGHLY recommend Astral Sorcery, a truly unique star-magic-based mod that I love in our 1.11.2 pack. Arch can attest to its polish, cool worldgen, and the basic stuff I've shown him and Klaz.
-insert maruchan's mandatory, continual and oft-voiced, by now quite annoying plug of "I hate thaumcraft it's so stupid and cocky of a mod, with no directions, no isntructions, no basic "this is what this mod is" blurb in its OP, etc etc. fuck thaumcraft"-

There are several things that Thermal Foundation has that aren't default. Platinum/Shiny Ore is one of them. It is a simple matter of adding it to the thermalfoundationores.json to get it to generate. There is at least one other ore (Aluminum) that Thermal Expansion adds that isn't generated by default.

Spoiler:

Code: Select all

"aluminum": {
                          "distribution": "uniform",
                           "generator": {
                                      "block": {
                                      "name": "thermalfoundation:ore",
                                      "metadata": 4
                                      },
                                      "material": "stone",
                                      "cluster-size": 8
                          },
                          "cluster-count": 4,
                          "min-height": 20,
                          "max-height": 60,
                          "retrogen": "true",
                          "biome": "all",
                          "dimension": {
                                     "restriction": "blacklist",
                                     "value": [
                                             -1,
                                              1
                                     ]
                           }
                },

This is what Ihave in my SSP for Aluminum. Didn't bother with Shiny/Platinum because there is a block called 'Destabilized Redstone' that generates by default and it has a 50% chance of generating Cinnabar when processed in a Pulverizer. By the tie I figured out Shiny wasn't generating, I already had a lot of Cinnabar and didn't feel the need to add it.

Yeah, Arch, you won't find Aluminum by default and you won't Platinum anywhere near the levels we see on our pack. I used COFH core for overriding worldgen so we only ever find 1 each of Copper/Tin/Silver/Lead/Aluminum/Nickel/Uranium Ores in the world. Otherwise, there are up to 4 versions of some of those spread out across 5 different tech mods. I got it working nicely using COFH/TF for everything that we could use it for - including Aluminum.

(It's only ever called Platinum now, because it's in the Oredictionary. And "Magic-Infused Ore" is now registered as "Mithril Ore" which is cool.) The Clathrete ores spawn Cinnabar? Good to know.

The Redstone version of Clathrete does. Pulverizing Redstone blocks (according to JEI) have a base 5% of generating Cinnabar as a secondary. Redstone Clatrete (WAILA shows it as Destabilized Redstone) has a base 50% chance to secondary Cinnabar. This is in 1.10.2. I am making the assumption here that those %'s hold true in 1.11.2 as well.

[Add-on edit]I agree Maestro. I use CofH Core to generate almost all ore in my packs. The only exceptions are those that aren't duplicates and pretty much unique to a particular mod. I will even use it to override a unique mod ore as well (ex. Draconium). I goosed a bit in my pack to make it about as common as Diamond.

you missed the "in its OP" portion of my comment. they expect you to download the mod and install it and paly it and open the bok to get instructions, before you even know anything about the mod you've downloaded. in fact the mod's OP doesn't even tell you if its a tech mof or a magic mod or a utility mod. They just hope you download it on reputation alone.

I happen to agree with that comment in general, it seems like writing a basic summary is a lost art for some people.

It also annoys me when a mod has no written doc (in the thread, project, wiki, ingame, anywhere) and the answer to a question is "watch the mod spotlight video". I don't want to watch videos at 1am when the rest of the family is sleeping, I want to be able to read the info in relative silence. Folks know how to make a video but they don't know how to write down instructions?

The EU2 book definitely doesn't work in my test pack, which is annoying but not a deal breaker.
The golden lasso recipe was a JEI issue, I could make it using the recipe I remembered.

The platinum issue was it not being in the config at all, and windows search couldn't find it in another pack's config even though the mark-1 eyeball had no problem at all. So it is added in but I'll have to abandon my already constructed spawn platform and generate a new world because I flew around a bunch to find a good spot and can't find a way to retrogen the COFH stuff. Not a big deal just a half hour or so in creative.

Left to do:
Fly to new land on the test world and check oregen.
Gen new clean world and build spawn.
Convert SSP instance to server.
Save & store modded, upload server & test world, verify it doesn't lag.
Upload client package & real world, and open it up.

With luck, Friday night.

The server works but it's much too late to proceed with distribution tonight.
As for performance we'll see what it does with multiple people.

Extra todo - add an irc mod, forgot that in my testing.

ScumPack 7
is LIVE!

Minecraft
1.11.2

Forge
13.20.1.2386 (changed, was 2393)

Create an empty MC 1.11.2 instance with the specified Forge level.
Drop in the config and mods folders from the SP7.zip file located here.

Server address
162.223.8.203:25575

The whitelist should have carried over.

In the interest of server health I suggest only using mob spawners when the drops are actually needed for a project, and use a design which can be turned off.

Hold off a bit, Maestro pointed out that this is neither recommended nor latest forge so it may cause problems.
That may also clear up a couple things that were disabled due to crashes while I was building it.

On both the client and server I have found that Java 8's default settings are not the best.
Two additional parameters can make a huge difference.

-XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC

Example minecraft settings page for curse/twitch client. This setting is at the very bottom of settings->minecraft.
You can probably get by with less memory as needed.

SO some unexpected car repair costs came up (tires that were less than 6 months old are dryrotting, driverside window isn't rolling up/down but motor is turning, due for 6 month maintenance), BUT I *MIGHT* have breathed some life into my laptop again, it seems to be working now but I haven't finished fully installing everything like drivers n shit yet (I mean for christsakes I've had it just slightly over 2 years it should still be working fine X.X ) so I might be on soon? :D
