ok so... can someone help me with downloading modpacks from curseforge? because i dont fkn get it. i cant just download a zip file with everything in it, i have to load the stupid ass launcher?

I believe (not 100% sure of this) that all the modpacks (not individual mods) available on curse/curseforge do indeed need the Twitch(used to be Curse) launcher. If you have a modpack in mind, I have the launcher already loaded on my laptop. I'd be happy to download what you need, zip it up and put it on my Google Drive for you.

The launcher method counts as a download for each of the mods included in the pack, which is why they set it up that way.

MultiMC is the most stable launcher that I have used since I started playing Minecraft. It is a good one.

thanks oso! i actually just found a downloadable copy of "server files" that contains all the mods and configs, i assume, minus client-side mods, which i'm fine with. i'll add my own.

With Java 8, I have found that adding these parms to the advanced Java settings makes a huge difference in lag on modpacks, both SSP and server.
-XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC

If you have trouble figuring out how to set it in the launcher you use, post here and one of us will most likely be able to help.

Upgrades & additional mods. Binnie, magic bees, one probe, and others that I don't remember offhand.
Took out RC and it solved most if not all of the gen lag.
Took out infernal mobs.

For vanilla, need to take a poll of the players.
We can copy over the existing world and run on the same level, or bring it right up to date with a 1.12 (.x?) version and fresh world.

I haven't been on in a while but I did log into vanilla the other day and was happy the world still existed. Don't know if or how much I'll be playing in the future but would be more likely if the existing vanilla world remains/continues. Is it possible to upgrade to 1.12 without a fresh world and just travel to new chunks for new content?

Well, so far I like Akliz. I never had a server on Exile but SP7 seems to be running MUCH better than it did on Exile. The server I have on Akliz is 4GB and so far, I haven't been able to overload it with the pack I made for 1.10.2.
