BTW how does the sludgeon reset? Will it do its thing by having nobody there for a while?

I'm not sure. I got lucky there were two close to each other. They are relatively easy to spot I think, as long as it's not night time, but you can get those night-vision goggles that are way better than vanilla night vision.

Despite being home all the time now, I'm working from home while watching my kids so unfortunately have even less time than I normally would to get on.

I did see something about an upcoming new nether update with new ore to improve diamond armor which looks fun. Is there an active vanilla world right now? If not might be a good time once that update goes live?

Still working on exact logistics - I ended up not loving the idea of Realms bc of limited configuration available for plugins/mods/addons/packs and didn't want to force ppl to pay for some of the ones Mojang puts out. Not to mention COVID hit and finances were a bit of a concern for awhile, less so now. Thanks tho bud! Hope you're well, and hope to play some MC soon. I'll post (basically) this update and more in-thread soon.

I'm trying "All of Fabric" modpack on 1.16.1 in ssp and it's only using 2gb of memory in the working set on local. That's with 90ish mods.
Not bad so far, too early to tell if I'll really like it.

I would play modded more if I could figure out why the server crashes every time I go back to my house..
It's quite frustrating.

Remind me, does it keep crashing again or is it fine until the next time you leave and come back?
If you can get on once it has crashed and restarted, there is an app called lag goggles which identifies what caused the problem.

I know that it has crashed on me when going there and when I looked using lag goggles there was tons of red stuff. Once you and ETL stopped showing up I gave up on trying to fix it, didn't want to tear stuff up and try to leave an explanation of what not to do on a sign somewhere.

Trying some 1.16 packs on single player to see what's ready enough. Open to requests / inputs!

All of Fabric was gentle enough on CPU/memory but is nowhere near ready IMO. Tech Reborn is pretty much the only content mod in that pack that I did anything with. The backpacks drop stuff, it lacks any cross-dimension teleport, no strongholds appear to have generated in any of the worlds I tried. I think it's mainly because fabric is so new that very few significant mods are ported over.

Currently I'm trying All the Mods 6 which is a forge pack. Mekanism is the primary tech mod so far, but I have not gone very far. There are a number of mods I've never heard of so lots to explore.

If we want something newish but more polished then an older MC version could be an option. I really like the new nether in 1.16, but it's also quite a lot to learn.

New Beginnings is an interesting modpack so far. I've been enjoying it and it has a few new mods that we haven't really played with yet.

Modded is still a thing for sure (though I'm patiently waiting for a new modpack......)

Vanilla I believe is not up though I'm not really sure because vanilla is still boring to me for whatever reason

Yeah I'd love to get another modded going.
Wait for 1.16.x to stabilize with a good enough pack? All the mods 6 has a few good ones, nothing with dimensions though...
See if something a little less bleeding edge but still higher than 1.12 catches players' fancy?
The last several times we get 5 or so people fired up and then it drops down to 2 within weeks.

I'm personally fine with get a 1.15.2 pack up and running. I have a feeling it'll be a while before they have a stable 1.16 pack available.

I'm looking at 1.15.2 modpacks. Both New Beginnings (mentioned above) and Valhelsia look to be playable but missing various things we usually play with. Checking out All The Mods 5 next. If there are any specific mods y'all really want or despise please post your thoughts. If you're fine with whatever that's good to know too.

as long as i have a storage mod (preferably refined storage) and building gadgets/mining gadgets, I'm a-ok. I'd like some kind of adventure mod (or multiple).

So far I really like "All the Mods 5" modpack.
Especially looking at create mod which is even more Rube Goldberg immersive than Immersive Engineering.
I'm going to do a bit more playtesting to see if there are any gotchas, and if not then will archive one of the older server images to put it up.

For anyone who wants to make sure their computer can load/run it, here is the modpack link. I can't easily check the version that Akliz has but it's usually within a day or two of current, so hoping that version 2.18 that I'm running now will be available.
