I've never had this much fun with a game.

hey there's no hidden information in that game right? clearly you guys need to set up skype and let me play quarriors at the next NC meet via satellite >>

not at all, but the game would lose some of its charm if you aren't physically present to hold the dice and roll them.

seriously, the game comes with 130-ish dice and they're all different colors with different symbols on them and feel SO GOOD to roll, especially when that bomb-ass 8/7 monster that has a constant effect of YOUR OPPONENTS MUST PAY 2 ADDITIONAL COST TO SUMMON A MONSTER EACH TURN shows up

I was kinda meh on Quarriors (having played an absurd amount of Dominion online). The culling rules tend toward a runaway leader problem, at least with the base. (I've seen variants suggested for that, and I'm sure expansions will change things up significantly.)

I will admit, all three games I've played so far seem to follow the trend of "someone gets ahead and wins the game", but I see no correlation between that and the mechanics. I prefer it to Dominion from an aesthetic standpoint, and from a "dice are more fun than cards" standpoint. I haven't checked out the expansion. I also hardly ever use culling unless I'm REALLY far ahead already.

I also think the amount of glory needed to win is a bit low. With 3 players, it was 15 points... the games are really short and don't give much opportunity for real strategizing (or having a real opportunity for using spells, for example).

Also, the Assistant-Reroll/Portal-DrawTwo combo is just lulzy.

I love the concept of Table Top but holy shit Wil's personality is really grating

if he gets like that for fucking Tsuro I can only imagine what would happen if Diplomacy/Rex/etc. were played on the show

edit: holy shit though ryan is amazing. "I'm really confident that these three are greens."

Anyone have any opinion on Tigris and Euphrates? It looks pretty sweet.

what type of games do you guys have experience with? do you think they're more of a "theme" game player or a mechanic game player?

Been a while since I played it. Great game. A bit fiddly at times (though you're a fantasy flight nerd, which automatically makes fiddly relative). It's got direct conflict. It and El Grande are sort of the start of the new wave of games, and I think deservedly so.

My friends play Talisman and owns it. Me not much at all. And it all depends. If the mechanics or themes are good Im interested.
I mean I've played some D&D if it helps. Maybe something Co-Op wouldn't be too bad.

Both Battlestar Galactica and Pandemic are fun co-op games imo, I haven't played any others. Pandemic is very easy and only takes a short time to play (it's also just about the only game I can get my parents to play), BSG is more complex and you really need to have the time, but it's awesome.

MY bf bought Zombicide, a game that started out on Kickstarter.
It made over $780,000 with the goal being only $20,000!

It wont be here for a while but I'm so excited. *_*

Just check out the links, I can't explain/summarize things very well. Just know it has some neat mechanics, LOOKS great- and has some really awesome characters that are references to various characters in pop culture.

BSG is a good coop game as is Shadows Over Camelot, although the latter is pretty tough to win the first time a group plays the game.

played game of thrones, fucking loved it

it's not exactly a full-on WAR GAME but it has the same qualities with just the right amount of diplomacy/negotiating

anyone have any recommendations for a good war game if my gaming group wanted to get into stuff similar to Game of Thrones?

Diplomacy is strictly diplomacy/negotiation/backstabbing. Takes a really long time, and everyone will hate each other afterwards, but as long as you know it's all within the game, you should enjoy it. I probably prefer GoT to Diplomacy though, as it runs a bit smoother. Diplomacy requires you to have a max amount of negotiation time, or you're just going to take hours for a single turn.
