Ooh yeah I remember that. That was in a joke set, though.

Anyway, made a card.

Red is more pure damage though. Blue is artifice and trickery. I figured since you could potentially
improve
the opponent's life points, it fell more under blue than red.

Green is right out.

I don't know of any non-red cards, after the advent of the modern color pie, that utilize dice and coins to simulate random effects.

This would be awesome if I could afford it. MTGO is infinitly better than the free programs simply because of prize support and ability to do tournaments. Cockatrice, MWS, OCTGN, ect are all cool but no prize support so the competition is bad. I'm willing to play some people on MWS if they wanted to tho.

Someone needs to start up the Mish Mash MTG tourneys through MWS again. Although it's been years since I played (last time I did a draft was M10), so I would probably suck even more than usual.

I'm all for this on cockatrice or mws, BUT I'm certain we lack someone willing to put the time in to properly mod one(which includes nagging players to actually play their games). This is among the long list of reasons I miss Yaw.

Also, I'm really not sold on what the format would be and if we'd have to mod two tournaments like in the past(sealed and constructed)

Dammit, Panzer, I'm not gone. Just crazy busy the past few months and you're all in a weird time zone. (That said, no, I don't have the time or patience to mod. Nagging students to get assignments in is enough nagging for me.)

I'm down the road a few hours from the birthplace of humans. From my anthropological point of view, all of you are in weird time zones.

Also, I'm not exactly up to date on mtg happenings, though I do tend to be on AIM reasonably frequently.

I can do MWS, but need patience from my opponent. You have to do everything, where MTGO does it for you.

I play Duels of the Planeswalkers on Steam (PC), and MTGO on the PC also. Do they have it on X-Box?

bv310. I'd be up for some stuff, but my budget is pretty limited because of paper MTG. I'll do a fuckton of Cube drafts once that comes online.

Okay, so we each got one of the Planeswalker 2012 starter decks (the mono color ones with 30 cards). I went with blue (Pie took black, Grimm took green, I didn't think I'd enjoy red, so duh, blue). We also split a sealed box of Innistrad boosters AND got a shitton of free commons from the guys sitting at the store playing MtG.

But I'm getting my ass kicked. Blue just seems like such a shitty deck compared to the power of green (terrifying monsters, terrifying buffs) and black (zombies never truly die, vampires lifesteal). What does blue have? Deck burners and...that's about it. Ugh.

Blue is the control colour. The Blue DotP deck is awful, heavily change it and it can work.

You bought innistrad, so you should have a full 4-set of Delver of Secrets. That, 4 Mana Leak, 4 Unsummon, and you already have a heck of a strong start. Include 2-3 Dissipate, a few Think Twice, and then pick your beaters as you choose. If you have the stuff, I'd suggest 4 Invisible Stalker, as many Geist of St Traft as you can find, a set of Spectral Flight, some Silver-Inlaid Daggers, and then get mid-range stuff like Murder of Crows or even Geistcatcher's Rig to help deal with fliers while your hexproof enchanted/equipped guys go to town.

You WOULD be the one to get me to actually log in for the first time in ages, wouldn't you Reck.

Blue has plenty of its own fun things. The biggest one is definitely the control element. You have access to counterspell in its many, many forms to just flat out tell your opponent that they can't play all of those scary cards. On top of that, you have a fair few cards that will allow you to take multiple turns in a row, bunches of cards that send permanents on your opponents' side of the field (or yours, when it's advantageous to you) back to their hands (which gives you another chance to counter them if you can't deal with them another way). You also have consistently good draw engines to keep card advantage, and a decent percentage of your creatures are difficult to block (flying, unblockable, landwalk, etc.). There are many other things that blue does well, but those are some of the most common.

Do note that I'm not normally a blue player, so I'm not as knowledgeable about the tools it has as some, but the above should be plenty to start getting you capable of holding your own against other new players.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be disappearing again. This site is far too much of a time sink for my current schedule to handle. Maybe in a few months when I get used to it I'll attempt a return of some sort. Dunno. Been way too long since I've played a game of mafia. I'm starting to miss it.

Ninja-ed. I don't personally know anything of Innistrad since I've not bought new cards since just before SoM, but bv appears to have some good advice there.
Because, no matter how you dress it up, that's what the world is. A community of idiots doing a series of things until the world explodes and we all die.
