Is the new RW cathartic reunion gonna justify a color change for modern dredge? Probably right?

I thought the whole point of dredge was to not play lands or spend mana. But I have not considered it in a modern context, or very recently.

They don't print free dredge enablers anymore, so modern dredge plays some lands in order to play their loot/rummaging spells and get their engine going

It's insane to me that I'm gonna get to play with looting in historic and you can't in modern

It's similar to ponder and preordain being banned in higher power formats and allowed in lower power formats. Hand fixer effects are stronger in more powerful formats.

Shriekhorn+faithless looting+5 lands was an easy keep even though it doesn't actually enable anything on its own because half the power was being an amazing hand fixer card, whether you were playing a graveyard deck or not.

I kind of wish they would ban payoffs instead of hand fixers because I think hand fixers are fun (when they cost mana I don't know that we need Once Upon a Time to be a thing)

I don't think historic is lower-power enough for looting to be fine, especially with phoenix in the format and arcanist already being a playable deck

Hand fixers are fun but can be inherently problematic, there might be a way to keep them all legal but it's much harder
