Slightly weak pool yeah, I think I'd have gone WB with a slight splash for Alphas off the Scarecrow. I could see WG too, the crossroads dude is decent.Current Avatar: Dr. Contessa(OC, art by @pastelpuffin)- chamber

*Shrug* If my object was simply to cash an event that required a winning record and I could have that pool or a random pool, I'd take the random one. That suggests below average and thus slightly weak to me as well.In post 7176, chamber wrote:That pool doesn't seem weak to me. I agree with DDD otherwise.- hasdgfas

I did the WB + splash for Alphas plan(registered this), and it just didn't end up matching up well against anything I faced. I got to play against Seasons Past + Nahiri's Wrath, for instance, which blows my late game out of the water. In post 7175, Natirasha wrote:Slightly weak pool yeah, I think I'd have gone WB with a slight splash for Alphas off the Scarecrow. It looked pretty good when I was opening the packs, but it ended up just feeling like every build I put together was missing something when I laid them out. Most of the builds were basically just sitting on their hands until turn 3 every game, which I'm not a big fan of, even in Sealed. In post 7176, chamber wrote:That pool doesn't seem weak to me. so it seems like green/black has a +1/+1 counter limited deck, and I'm curious how well that'll pan out; they both get a lot of fabricate and a lot of things that just incidentally add counters, and they collectively have a few uncommons that get a lot better if you're putting a lot of +1/+1 counters on things. anyone who manages to do Verdurous Gearhulk --> Armorcraft Judge will have a really good time. (I mean, you're already having a really good time if you have any of the Gearhulks in limited, but drawing an extra 4 cards off of it is nice.)- McMenno

They almost printed fixed Mana Leak. Almost. And a good instant draw spell? This set is bonkers, I love it.Current Avatar: Dr. Contessa(OC, art by @pastelpuffin)- hasdgfas

So Yaw and I watch Vintage Super League and watched Community Super League. We thought that there might be some interest in an "MS Super League" in the vein of some of the older MS Magic Tournaments, but with more flexible scheduling. We were intending the format to be Modern. We would be using one of the unofficial Magic programs, probably OCTGN, so you don't have to own a bunch of expensive cards on MTGO or anything. I wanted to gauge interest in that from the Magic thread. Who would be interested in something like this?jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont

I haven't played in like 3 rotations (whenever RTR was), but I like tourneys. I'd probably return for it, if I knew what a Super League was.One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.- hasdgfas

10 players, Round Robin tournament, you have 3 trimesters of 3 matches and can pick a new deck for each trimester. Top 4 after the round robin goes to a playoff.jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont

It should be noted that I was unable to download the most recent version, seems like a problem with the installer, I imagine it'll be fixed soon.In post 7192, Klazam wrote:tried it, couldnt make it work, would much prefer cockatrice- McMenno

xmage has built in drafting and rules enforcement, it's so nice.In post 7196, hasdgfas wrote:I am completely unfamiliar with xmage. I know what Cockatrice is, but have found it inferior to OCTGN. I'll check out xmage this week.- Yaw

As far as programs are concerned, I think the big two questions are:
How does it handle disconnections? and
Does it have all the cards? (Looking at xmage here -- I went by their forum, and I have concerns over the 5 blocks from Mirrodin to the end of Lorwyn, if we're doing Modern. I want to be convinced this isn't a problem, so please convince me.)
Beyond that, the VSL format opens up options to make something more interesting, if people want it. The minimum here is just round-robin format in 3 trimesters, you play your three matches in a trimester in any order you want. That said, OCTGN (not sure about Cockatrice or XMage) allows the option of spectators, so that could be a thing. Could even go the whole "show" route -- have a room in Discord running at the same time so people could commentate, record games for later, etc. Depends on how far players want to go.Success breeds suspicionCopyright © MafiaScum.
