Dota3 is awesome. Spamming Techies is actually viable now (and super easy MMR)~

I dropped below 4k for the first time in my life earlier this month and #roadto3k became reality.

Pudge is super strong this patch though I don;t play him.

Other strong heroes include Monkey King since most ppl are dumb, and CM. Personally I've been spamming techies for easy MMR.

Treant is particularly strong though only if your team is competent, he is easy party MMR (disclaimer I usually queue with a 7k friend so I pick it when I don;t feel like doing much and just focus on keeping him alive so that he can carry me).

I need to play this week, now that I'm back home. Been watching a fair amount, and talents seem pretty balanced actually.

For those looking to grind, pudge ember SB slar and IMO, viper are all really strong right now.

For Viper, my build is RoA -> Phase -> Helm -> dragon lance and after that, typically hurricane pike. You should have helm by 10-11mins and dragon lance by ~15-16min. After that, so long as you're fighting with your team it's virtually impossible for the other team to take you down before you dish out enough damage to wreck their team.

Ember is a bit harder to grasp because after veil his build becomes very situational.

Pudge is strong because he doesn't really need items and hook just so good throughout a game. My pudge is shit yet I've been winning a lot with him because despite how weak your early game may be, you can still have so much impact mid-late. It's hard to have a good impact on pudge early unless you have a good understanding of map movement.

SB forces a ton of fights, can help out anywhere and is tanky early game.

Also a friend's philosophy at very high MMR levels is that heroes that can move fast in general are good this patch.

yeah, pudge scales really well lategame. He's one of the few heroes that can scale infinitely with flesh heap, and can transition into a hard carry after being a support earlygame.

Pudge peak timings are tranquils, lv6, lv7 and aether lens. Once he has that he dominates the mid-game. All it takes is hooking an enemy hero out of position and killing them quickly which can determine the outcome of the teamfight and sometimes the game itself. Not many heroes can have the type of risk-free initiation that pudge gives you, especially for how low the cost (unless you hook a tide or magnus into your team in which gg wp).

Still got destroyed by an SD-Luna combo when we don't actually have good AoE lol

Luna is just so strong right now. She can fight early with her ult, she can take the game late, she farms as well as anyone with basically no items.

The best counter to Luna is SD so I would recommend you guys grab if you see a Luna on the other side unless they picked the SD first.

My counter to Luna is usually techies and I have no troubles even playing against SD-Luna though SD early on is a stupid techies counter.

Blademail heroes in general make for good Luna counters because she can't ult in front of you unless she wants to die. Against SD-Luna more specifically - Axe, Legion make good counters and earthshaker to a lesser degree if you guys don't play techies. Ember holds up well against Luna too since he can pick her off easily and is a natural blademail carrier.

For less head-on counters, any heroes that can disrupt Luna's farming are good. You do not want to let her freefarm mid-game because she will outfarm you. Smoke ganks are your friend.

IDK how relevant this would be

But Zeus + aghs = Extreme levels of bursting

Really good pre-BKB against luna

And even if she gets BKB, you can get rid of illusions rather safely and easily

Or you can even just kill SD or even the entire team entirely and let everyone else deal with the luna

luna was always so powerful but she wasn't easy to play with

she got easier to play with

I think best counter to luna are stunners though she can get BKB soon. Techis is inceridble counter to luna as she wasn't to fight in not crowded places which are the best places for bombs. practically avoiding her when she is in a not crowded space and has a ready BKB is the best idea anyway

The trick to SD-Luna and Luna in general is not letting her come online. One of my most frustrating losses was once when I stomped mid as a Viper and we were ahead the entire game, but because my carry slark didn't want to ever group up with us while getting constantly picked off, we could not end the game early enough. Then during one highground push, team overextended diving past rax, getting us wiped, and in one wave the SD-Luna pushed and we lost the game.

What makes techies so strong is due to the timing. You make the lane difficult for the Luna (with or without SD), thus slowing her farm while ensuring that your offlaner is getting fat enough such that they can control the tempo past 10mins in the mid-game. In such a situation, the enemy carry will almost always have less net worth thru 10 minutes than either me, the offlaner, or both depending on who gets the kills and how well the offlaner was able to farm lane.

Hell I just won a game with a VS/techies offlane vs SD/Luna because my LC wanted to jungle instead of offlaning so the two supports went. As a bonus, our mid SF had 0 kills.

With regards to Luna specifically, what makes her so strong this patch is due to the new Helm of the Dominator. She farms stupid fast with it in addition to pushing even quicker. Even a hero like Viper, once you get your 10-11min helm and 15min dragon lance, you're able to take all the opponent's outer towers with ease, let alone Luna.
