Wii U

This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games
(board, card, video, we're not picky)
.
Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

Wii U

So I searched and didnt see any mention of the Wii U at all so I figured Id make a thread.

Anyone else have one? What games? How are you liking the gamepad and the new possibilities it can bring to the table.

Additionaly, I have one(two really but i haven't been able to move it on the secondary market as easily as I thought Id be able to) and can answer questions if anyone cares.

I've only played Nintendoland so far but for me it is far better than Wii Sports as both a game and tech demo. It has an overarching point to playing the minigames that Wii Sports was missing. Basically you collect coins by playing the games and you use these coins in a Plinko like game that earns you fixtures in the Plaza that are from the various games. Other than that the games are just fun. They are hard enough to be challenging without feeling cheap and definitely show the possibilities for the gamepad. I intend to pick up Mario U and Assassin's Creed 3 for the system but im waiting for black friday sales.
V/LA every weekend for awhile.

I officially owe Maruchan.

I got my games today... Apparently consoles take another day in the postal system...

Got ZombiU, super Mario and ninja gaiden.

Kinda upset that the controllers only last four hours on a charge, also I hear there is a one gig patch when you first start? My slow internet means it will take close to two hours just to patch it... Lol nintendo

The thing that's really turning me off to the Wii U at the moment is your ID being tied to the system and your risk of losing ALL your downloadable content should the system ever die. Having had a PS3 croak on me, the only solace was that I could redownload my purchased stuff. You take stuff I've paid for, I'll be pretty mad, and I'm not about to support a system that allows that to happen.

Looks like they are promising to fix that, but at the moment... yeah.

Is it different from the demos in any big way? I tried one at EGXP a few months ago and it was good but I don't think I'll be buying one. :/

So I heard WiiU was going to be targeted at more serious gamers and less casual gamers? Or was that a myth?

From what I've seen it's more core-oriented than the Wii, but that's not saying much...
