Well, that was the problem. TSM spent all of the time between W1 and W2 scrimming SKT apparently.
edit: Joking aside, it does make me feel better about TSM continuing to disrespect Janna if Kkoma did as well. Clearly there was some disconnect between the various scrim blocks.

That is the team you would play if you wanted to shake them in the early game. SKT wants to prepare a roam or a TP to get a first tower, then out macro you. They're very good at it, but if you knock them out cold before they pull it out you're proving to yourself that you did it properly.
Sad thing is that I'm sure TSM did some lategame arms race shit in scrims with them to see if they could out teamfight the best. [though that flash from pray vs gam the other night was amazing]
P-EDIT: Huh. Makes a bit more sense. Why no LZ or RNG, though...?
weldon korea nationalism / tsm vod leaking / taipeichingchong might have had something to do with it. lz would see tsm early in prep (top vs second), while skt was guaranteed to meet them earliest in semis, making prep from weeks before worth less.
C9 gets their pick here: focusing on Clearlove or Scout is pretty much the key to killing EDG. Mouse is a role player, and focusing ADC is pointless in this meta (targon brace if you're losing for the shield, get an earlier ardent censer...). That's partly why Hans Sama has had an easy time. Focusing a side lane without an advantageous objective trade (free herald or double tower) would be a sign to me that EDG gets an opportunity to knock out C9 in a teamfight, which iBoy is really good at.
I would honestly probably forsake and risk lz knowing my drafts just to ensure i'd get out of groups. Besides, SKT's still set for 1st plce, so it's not like there's any advantage there for TSM.

At least C9 still has a chance , and it means they aren't forced to beat SKT to tie. If they DO beat SKT somehow, the absolute worst they can do is tie., but if they don't c9 vs. AHQ becomes absolutely paramount. And if EDG mnages to 3-0 this week.

Maokai couldn't hold against the jayce, and the team couldn't win the 4v4, so they hoped to pull the trigger and force the fight with their tank to maybe be able to salvage the situation.
The situation was unwinnable at that point. The problem came from how they handled the baron -> push and the time impact died 1v1 to huni after the inhib trade. Mid inhib is worth less than bot inhib at that stage of the game, even ignoring the lost nexus tower.
Seriously though, EDG was playing a very clean, patient game, and as soon as they played an impatient force they get punished for it. SKT's extremely solid going into the mid and late game even with their weakness in early game (which is an interesting thing to note: TSM plays like a worse SKT).
TSM tries to play like SKT but doesn't have the same skill as SKT across the board, nor the willingness to play even a little proactive in the early game.

WE GOT WE! This is the best possible draw we could get. That means EU's fucked, but yknow.
EDIT: LZ vs. SSG. That's gonna be a treat. lus, if C9 manages to get past WE, we have the easier(-ish) semis, so there IS a very small chance of finals.
