That's what I mean. They took Trist/Lulu/Sej in first three rounds, presumably since with Janna going through they thought they had to take Lulu before the second round of bans. I think they had to take Singed there, and just run with Thresh/Blitz/etc if Lulu was banned. Or else at the very least taking the other side of the Gnar/Shen matchup so they had some sort of split pressure. As it happened they had nothing to play for.

I'd argue they had to take galio. I don't think singed was enough to deal with galio+kog+janna. I don't know if lulu, cait or sej was less important, though I'm inclined to think cait was the one to put through.

Although in reality, just ban galio instead of xayah (overall) or rumble (if they were set on to setting up the caitlyn snowball).

yeesh. Twice the west has come to the brink, and twice htye've failed. MSF arguably was the closest due to the major upset factor, though.

Strangely enough, though I'm kinda...not that upset? I mean, TSM was a fucking disgrace, IMT arguably just as much (I'd say less just because they didn't have TSM's history behind them) and G2 didn't make it, and I'm kinda pissed that none of the three that got to quarters went further. But each of the three that did make it out took it to their opponents in majors ways, ESPECIALLY Misfits in a nail-biting Bo5 I would never have pegged any western team to conceive of doing against SKT of all teams, much less them. Fnatic's games looked pretty solid AFAICT, though that game two loss was hard to watch. And C9 really gave as much as they took from WE despite bombing G5's draft (why give them Galio, man...? Just...pick/ban it, you're better off that way).

Would I feel better if at least one team had made it to semis? Yes, definitely, just as much as I now wish RNG can beat SKT so we can finally have someone new win the damn title. But there have been some lights in the darkness that have kinda kept this Worlds from feeling like a complete wash.

RNG really do look the best right now but Faker is a very clutch player. That said, RNG are my favorite to win right now. They look really good.

Also all 4 teams look like they could win on any given day unlike in the past when it was like "lol SKT" so that's nice.

Uzi just seems to choke in high pressure situation, which is likely why he hasn't won any big prizes to date. It's a shame, because now we once again have a full Korean final. I at least hope Samsung prevails. SKT winning again is just ugh

And yeah, performance under pressure seems to be a recurring theme. Both Misfits and RNG were good enough to win, but they didn't rise to the occasion the way SKT (and especially Faker) have.

Sure. However the meta has developed in a short time. Additionally, both MSF and RNG has pushed SKT to grow stronger, and play in the early game. Something like the miracle combo of Rakan+Galio like versus EDG, except with an Ashe on top I think is a great answer to Cait's early game, and trap hell. The ECA grants the extra time needed to collapse. Actually, I'd say the time it grants would allow Orianna over Galio, which may end up banned.
