Sorry Nero, I realized today that Sunday is Father's Day. Strangely can't sit around and playing a game on my "day off". Will have to do it another time.

no worries Khan. I had also forgotten that it was fathers day.

I enjoy my copy of Civ IV, where my motto as Egypt is "I will culture the fuck out of you!" Flipping cities is a joy. Haven't gotten Civ V because a) I'm cheap and 2) I LIKE my stacks of doom and do not appreciate their removal. Also I hear there's bizarre city-states or something and I dun geddit; I never use the vassal states or w/e in Civ IV BTS.

I always hate it in BTS when your ally turns the enemy that you've almost completely destroyed into a vassal that you can't attack anymore.

City States are awesome. They give you stuff if you befriend them/ally with them, so I play as Greece and just try to own ALL of them. In addition to that, if you save them after they get captured or are allies with them, and the UN goes up, they vote for you. Otherwise, they're playing a single city challenge and cannot win.

Also I hated stacks of doom.

So what do we have now? Thanks to 1UPT, we've got a game that tries hard to limit production because large armies break the 1UPT system. To limit production as the game goes on, large cities increase their production very slowly relative to science. This means that small cities remain competative throughout the entire game. This, combined with the many loopholes in the happiness system, allow an empire of many small cities to massively outproduce and outtech an empire of a few large cities, so the 1UPT is broken anyway with a massive clog of advanced units, early in the game. In my opinion, this is not fixable without severe changes to the game, such as bringing back stacks or greatly increasing the minimum distance between cities."

I think this addresses most of the hate at the 1 UPT system that I agree should be removed.

Also, before DOOM STACKS comments arrive, check out this fancy link to a legit pro civ4 defense.

I quoted this stuff from this article: http://www.garath.net/Sullla/Civ5/whatwentwrong.html

A really interesting read.

Makes me want to play Civ4, since I got all 4 versions.
