Starting a thread, I know Icerint and I are in the beta, and trying to convince all the people in site chat to play as well. We can figure out a server to play on...

I think my character is on Leviathan right now, but I think lots of people have also claimed Gilgamesh. I'm happy to relocate when Phase 4 rolls around.

I ordered the game, again, even though I didn't want to because:
1)better chance at scoring Beta|
2)I wanted the items the CE gave lol

I might try a new class/starting location if I switch to Gilgamesh during Phase 3. I was Lancer around New Gridania last time. I guess you have a solid sense of all of them because you were in 1.0?

No, I quit a month into 1.0 as it was terrible, was a lalafell then as well, and did the death run at level 10 to get to the one city... Only made it to level 16, I am already at level 17 on the toon I made on Friday

Which city is your Gilgamesh character near, or do you already have the ability to travel about?

I think I'm going to make some kind of mage this weekend. Maybe Arcanist->Scholar in Phase 4.

Beta is free, but there will be a monthly fee come the official release. It'll probably stay that way, too; FFXI is still P2P.

Ah, bummer. I think the mage for Limsa is the Arcanist, which isn't available yet.

I'm still divided between playing on my fancy laptop and playing on my PS3. One cool thing is that so far I can play the beta on both versions. I wonder if the game will be free to try at launch, or if buying the game initially will also be necessary. I already have the crap on my computer and PS3....

Looking forward to the PS4 version.

Do you have a better sense of how the Attribute system works, btw? It seems like it basically forces you to choose whether you want to be gimp melee or gimp magic on each character, kinda subverting the premise of the class system? Or are they redistributable by some mechanism?
