Literally the entire resource system of magic is variance.

HS has variance in card draws (same as magic, but with a smaller deck which is lower variance.) and individual cards.

But that pales in comparison to the fact that the very thing that determines whether you get to play the game (mana, lands) is distributed by variance in magic but not in HS.

Its fine to disagree. In terms of variance though, I'll take knowing I get to make exactly one land drop every turn over not knowing if the amount of mana I draw will determine if I can win or not.

New HS arena is out and it seems fun! Pick two classes and draft from those classes.

Of course my first round opponent had 5 kindly grandmothers and deathstalker rexar but I'm not playing HS cause its balanced lol.

I'm just really bad at playing draft decks I think. Double legendary and really great paladin/priest deck but still only went 2/3

I went 6-3 with my first one which was pretty mediocre as a deck power level wise and I'm 2-0 rn with the second.

People just don't go face nearly as much as they should. If everyone is trying to play a value game and you just smorc em you'll win a lot.

always take warlock hero power if it's available.

go pally with warlock hero power, draft a bunch of divine shield minions and a bonemare or 2, with a couple strong warlock cards like defile and despicable dreadlord and you're set.

I am pretty terrible at drafting decks, and jump up and down whenever I can get past 3.

Rogue/Warrior is bad. Warrior/Rogue is significantly better.

So my advice in this (and pretty much every arena) is go for aggression. You get a lot of free wins off of going thing thing and opp not having a two drop. And then you tap your hunter hero power until they die.

My average in the last 3 weeks is 5.5 wins per run, so I'm not amazing, but definitely if you think two cards are roughly similar in power level use "take the cheaper one" as a tie breaker.

Curve is way more important in Arena; often you don't want to be playing for value, you want to be playing for tempo almost all the time. 2 and 3 drops should be considered more valuable, since you always want to hit those drops for tempo, and later in the game, you can drop a creature or two and still tap, which is highly valuable.

From a value standpoint, though, you only need three wins to break even- at the three win mark, the prizes you get for your 150 gold are better than what you'd have gotten spending it on a pack, so you've come out ahead at that point. Also, I tend to average about 4 wins in Arena, so take my advice with some salt.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Back into this for the arena. Did my draft without tier list (too lazy when on phone). Warlock + rogue hero power. Currently 4-0. Everyone i faced was warlock hero power.

All 4 of my games were won after a huge stabilize from being crazy behind on board and hand (i think warlock power just outvalues after a while sometimes). 1st game with Doom. 2nd game with Spreading Plague from Swashbucker. 3rd game, turns out Defile is nuts against hunterlock board flood. 4th game, Dreadlord + Plague Doctor combo guy is hilarious and awesome.

I dont think the person in the 4th game realised what happened, because they proceeded to dump a huge board even with poisonous dreadlord on my side. So yeah ive been gettin pretty lucky
did another ms user do something lovely? recognize their achievements here!
