Miniatures Painting Thread
Despite being only a mediocre miniatures painter, apparently I'm the first scummer who is willing to put his toys on the internet.
Disclaimer: these are painted for tabletop quality, so they get a little weird up close (particularly faces, because detailed faces look weird from table distance imo). Plus, I have yet to put together a good photography setup so not all the pictures turned out well.

I quite enjoyed the process of 40k: Designing an army, building, painting, etc. It felt very...investing. Like besides the fuckton of money, I was getting to know my little plastic mans. I knew every fake bullethole and every broken gun. I felt like I was creating, and then we'd work together to crush opponents. I have fond memories of painting specific ranks onto the shoulders of my soldiers, so that every member had their place within the army. I remember painting new symbols or uniforms for specialist squads. That's something I don't get in a lot of strategy games on the PC.
Then playing it was a fucking drag of poorly written rules and rules arguments and referencing books and not enough balance. Especially not in the non-marines core armies. There was always that one guy who would just paint his space marines army differently to whatever army was the strongest. Balance is probably the biggest problem in a game where changing your army costs hundreds of dollars and weeks of your time.
And then I found out the universe was spread thinner than a foreigner's vegemite and really could not invest myself after I found out the "there is only war" thing wasn't like...an ironic wink. I still think there are some fucking GEMS in that series, and I thoroughly enjoyed the first of the Gaunt's Ghosts books, but there wasn't nearly enough depth to keep me invested.
Anyway dude, I like what you've created and I support you. The best thing about models of any type is that you can strip the paint and start again whenever you want! It's unfortunate that good oral sex excuses bad chemistry. - Korts-

Yeah you'll notice no 40k models in there. I've been a GWS retailer for six years, and I'm not giving those morons any ofmymoney.
Dystopian legions is where the british guys come from, and it's got a great system. The big ice golem and the demon and two of the kids are from Malifaux, which I'll be learning for work sometime in the next two months. I've been using the minis for RPGs but the world is kinda cool and I'm running out of excuses to buy their stuff.-
