Cities: Skylines

This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games
(board, card, video, we're not picky)
.
Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

Is anyone else playing this city builder?

It's brilliant! I've been watching Sips' playthrough and it makes me jealous because I'm bad at the game.

My cities go well until I get to about 1k population, and all the new stuff get introduced - I get fucked by money etc.

Urgh.

After playing this I almost want to go back to SC2K where the game is easy :(

I had a decent city of about 25k people before it imploded due to skyrocketing crime, garbage problems, and water shortages with no treasury funds to pay for them.

They won't be re-electing
me
as mayor, that's for sure.

I loved SC2K. It was super casual and you could do whatever you wanted.

This game looks really cool and interesting, but it almost looks *too* big and complex. I'm going to wait a little bit before deciding whether to get it or not.

I learned how realistic this game was when I built my landfill right by my water purifying pump. The results were rather... destructive.

it's...overwhelming

also it sucks because there is no clear indicator of why certain things are happening and you have to just guess

IE: WHY is this particular intersection filled with traffic when it's nowhere near the core of my road system?

My SO plays this pretty regularly and it's great - I love watching it but haven't played much myself yet - looking forward to trying it more thoroughly once my computer stops sucking. (I've been overheating sometimes lately, and this game is among the worst offenders)
