granted I had some help, but it seems like that if they lose one war then they are pretty much done for the rest of the game because everyone else will just start to attack them endlessly.

GOD. BLESS.

My diplomatic freedom in the game I quit got totally robbed because I needed Austria to put France down with me (and we were probably the most significant land powers in that game in that time).

And they kept coming back. More and more armies. 1 frenchman was worth 3.5 dutch as well. You won a war (well, austria did. I was the distraction). You knew in 10 years you'd do it all over again.
Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.

I've kinda been looking at a game as Burgundy. I figured that got national ideas that gave them bonuses to mercenaries that they'd be able to stand up to the French if they got some good allies. Looks like that'll be an easier task now.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

burgundy can get scary if they keep their PUs together and don't get shit on by the reformation. Also, your diplomacy might be a touch limited early game due to those PU's. Also the Netherlands' revolt can be harsh at times.

I forget, does integrating make your diplomatic reputation decrease...

^excelent point. I like to turn it on random. That could have potentially done it. HOWEVER, the fact that Castile and England (both lucky) usually end up snagging a piece of France seems to indicate that more is going on.

I have a save file where I went and loaded up every large nation in europe and had them release all possible nations, broke all alliances/PU and then declare pointless wars to sink them to -3 stab. I use it as a base template when I'm bored, I'll load it up let the AI run europe for some amount of time and then pick a nation and start playing in alternate history europe.

The results are always interesting.

I really wish I could get into EU4 - spent a fair few hours in EU3 but I couldn't get into 4.

I wasn't ever brilliant - I didn't know the proper intricacies, but I definitely had good games as Austria and Spain etc.

Finally managed to get China from Ming. Didnt know an event triggers it. Have finally managed to overthrow the evil alliance of the Indian region of Orissa, Vajgnablabla, Jailsamer and another one that were all allied. Took me a few wars to make them turn on one another. Then took Padai, who controlled most of the Indonesia region and managed to overthrow Persia. Now I'm near the borders of Russia and Ottomans, my obstacle of getting into Europe.

I love the extended timeline mod though just to be able to conquer the world with anything.

In the dark future of dystopian europe it is the year 1454 and England is faced with a tough decision.

Should it create France?

The discussion made me load up my old MessyEuro file and let it run for ten years.

England actually reformed itself and incorporated Scotland in a ten year period which was incredibly impressive, France managed to be entirely consumed, Luxenburg has teamed up with Denmark and is occupying parts of Sweden while Muscovy has entirely occupied Novograd but is about to be dragged into a war with the Golden Horde.

I thought the admin point for coring scaled with the number of cores you already have.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. Yeah man you abuse that imperial authority idea for maximum value. One of my most fun Austria games I set a goal of never taking territory from a member of the HRE and just focused on being the kindest most benevolent HRE. I personally wasn't the strongest of nations but I had 10-12 incredibly loyal other nations that would do my bidding and brow beat non-HRE nations for me as I slowly consolidated them all into one unified HRE.
