Have been watching Witwix play it as a big chunk of my Twitch rotation, seems legit and awesome.

I'm seeing the SNES levels and wondering "Was it so washed out when I played it?"

It's possible your old TVs color was wrong (or that your current monitors is). Looks the exact same to me as the original(and I've seen recent streams running on a snes).

I've been debating getting it, although Im not sure how much use I'll get out of it before I get bored, and for what I presume is £40 Im not sure its worth it?

It's very worth it. I was kinda worried about the same but level trading is very fun. You can get lost for HOURS building a single level.

Ah the days when the colour saturation knob was just to the left of the volume knob (or behind a cleverly concealed push panel along with horizontal and vertical alignment tweakers heheh).

But no actually I figured it out - I was looking at an NES version which was included in Mario All-Stars for SNES. It's the NES version which looks faded, but what I've seen of SMW now I've identified the difference, looks just as richly saturated as before.

Guess I recognised it, played it on SNES and didn't figure it was a port (as I didn't have an NES).
