Titus Plays Xcom 2

This is infuriating. Xcom is running to slow to do a let's play for my PC. I will have to wait on a patch.

mine isn't slow (other than the too-long pauses between my moves), but it does crash regularly.

Huh, I have had like two crashes so far, and it is only slow on the loading times. Other than that, it has been running fine. I am running it on minimal, though.

Also, I have finished my "savescum rush to see the ending", and now have started my proper "one mission a day" commander ironman run. The fact that you have to skip the tutorial to play ironman kinda sucks.

My internal base is so slow regardless of graphics setting. kinda ruins the let's play. At first I thought it was the recording but nope.

So...

Today's mission, an easy level vip rescue. The vip's car is just under a 2 story building, and the evac zone is 3 turns away from that. One pod is away from both, another pod is with the car. I set up the ambush, kill the trooper, but the Sectoid survives with 1 hp and hides behind a lampost near the car. My last trooper can throw a grenade, and the area of effect says it will be at least 2 tiles away from the car itself.

Not far enough. The car is on fire. The next turn begins, and the wall of the car collapses. I have vision of the scientist. He is on fire, but still unharmed. Also, I get a reinforcement warning on top of the building between the car and the evac point. Still 9 turns to the end of the mission, but the scientist won't survive 9 turns on fire. I tell him to run, and set the rest of the squad in ambush for the coming reinforcements. 2HP fire damage on the scientist.

The reinforcements arrive, one trooper falls to overwatch, the other two survive, but take easily flankable positions. The scientist takes 2 points of fire damage. Two more moves to evac point, three hit points on the scientist, and I have no idea where the third pod is. Run scientist run! My soldiers take down the two remaining advent.

New alien turn, the pod I avoided before attacks me from the back. 2 FIRE DAMAGE! I rush to the evac point, no sign of the third pod. The scientist lives!

The squad takes some damage from the second pod and stumbles on the third pod as they go to the evac zone. Somehow, the scientist did not meet them on his mad dash.

I'm gonna call this guy "Doctor Lucky"

Second casualty of the legendary run and it was a ranger again, just had a Major miss his automatic bladestorm attack and manage to hit the car he was hiding behind causing it to blow up killing himself.

I was impressed.

Started the final mission with this squad only to realize partway through I forgot the medkit at home.

Who needed a safety net anyways?

Why no PSI Ops, TBM?

Never researched it. Elerium was needed for guns, not toys right up until I had final tier gear and by then it was the endgame and I had no time/need for it.

There was also really no room in the squad for one either, 1 Ranger / 2 Grenadiers was the core of my squad, 1 Specialist for overwatching and robotic units, 1 Sniper for initiation and clean up duty only leaves me with one slot to play with. While I could have gone with a Psi Op there nothing matches the damage output of a Gunslinger Sniper (on maps with no timers) and legendary really comes down to having enough firepower to kill them before they can shoot back.

The final score was Xeno Scum - 2 XCOM - 617.

This gets the award for unfair pod of the playthrough but even it was no threat before the bullshit power that is phantom rangers and grenadiers.

I downloaded some mods and got the audio working better. Frame rate isn't 100% but I'm rolling with it.

Also, I had a wonderful C/I run that finished abruptly this weekend when the script on the final mission bugged out. My all-star team is sadly waiting in the final room for the second boss that will never show up...

Yeah, we lost a few during this playthrough. Xcom is getting beat up bad. God damn codexi. We lost pirate, Mathblade, animaki, Varsoon, aeronaut, and Garmr. The last three died during the blacksite. Pepper wound up hauling Titus to the ship, barely surviving.
