To me what made League different than Dota was that league was heavily focused on individual skills and players and enabling one person to make the kind of difference they never could in Dota and over time it's felt like they've moved away from that model, unless you play a gank jungler like Rammus and nonstop gank lanes.

If I'm roflstomping a lane I should be able to have deterrence against jungler camp besides relying on my own jungler or getting so far ahead that I can 1v2, because all that happens when you can 1v2 in the current game is the support and top lane start coming mid.

So yeah gameplay wise the ward change was catastrophically bad for the high-elo game at large in order to bandaid fix a competitive issue (supports only buying wards all game in competitive games) and slightly improve things in low elo. Continually making the game more and more jungler dependent makes the game feel very frustrating unless I want to spam Rammus/Amumu games which feel dissatisfying even when you single handedly break the game open. And it feels like there's this attitude in league players nowadays where you treat your teammates like they're your enemies and not the enemy team.

If you look all the way through 2016, the rate of the increase in size of the playerbase has only kept increasing. It's become something you don't like, but at the same time it seems it's become something more broadly likeable.

It's not dead but it's certainly declined both in playerbase and quality of experience from the times that I am talking about. I tried to get back into it multiple times and it just doesn't feel the same anymore for me for several reasons, some of which are due to personal changes but a lot of it is due to changes in the game.

The emphasis on helping junglers gank more without getting behind is awful and the current 'free ward' situation is awful. I used to go back and buy four wards for both sides of the lane for 6 minutes because I would get camped so much and now I can only ward one side some of the time.
Well, if the game isn't as fun for you or your friends, that's one thing, and I understand it. Tastes change, maybe you liked the things that it was in the past, etc. I don't agree (I've played the game since Season 3 and the game is much, much better now), but I can understand it.

But if you're making a statement about user base, then at least we have some non-subjective thing to base it on, and it's just utterly false -- particularly from the seasons you cited. Last September, it was reported that it now has over 100 million monthly active users. That represents an increase from 2014's 67 million monthly users. 2011 had 15M and 2013 had 32 million. So really, the time period you cite far, far lags behind the current day's player base. At some point the game will stop growing and start declining, but at least 2016 was not that year.

On Twitch, it remains the most popular streamed game even outside of esports. I don't know why people care about this, but after a brief time with Overwatch taking most played during LoL's offseason, LoL is once again considerably more played than any other game in PC Bangs in Korea (http://game.dailyesports.com/view.php?u ... 7304973812).

Oh I actually completely forgot probably the biggest thing for me was that they made Annie ult no longer instant. Obviously YMMV on that.

*shrug*

I mean my explanation probably seems narrowly focused around my own game and kinda selfish but the sentiment is pretty universal. Of the people that I used to play with only like 2 of them still play and Jesse doesn't even ranked anymore.

I stopped playing some months ago and it was basically because Karthus was shit and they were ignoring old champions in favor of new and flashy and hyper-mobile champions with invulnerabilities.

The other reason was the toxicity when I could be doing a million other things that I enjoy that doesn't involve ragers and toxic people.

That doesn't mean the game is really dying just because I no longer enjoy it. It's true that it has changed a lot from what it used to be (for better or worse), but there are probably a bunch of new people that pick it up and enjoy it for what it is now.

And that's fair. I understand that a lot of people still love the game regardless of whether they played when I did.

It just isn't the game that I picked up at the start of high school and invested so much of my life into. And it's not gonna be that again so.

karthus reliably has one of the highest winrates as a midlaner lately

Winrate has very little to do with how good a champion is though.

every few games league wants to fucking tell me im not connected to the internet when I clearly am, makes me restart client, and then when I finally get back in, I get told that the game was remade.
why do i even bother if riot literally does not want me to play their game
so frustrating

Man...weren't you paying attention, his connection problem is obviously riot's fault.
