wonder how they'll buff her to adjust her weaknesses
maybe her ult will work more like azir's? (dealing damage, not affecting teammates, preventing dashes through it)

right now a q on worked ground restores 50% mana
maybe it should restore more, or also decrease cooldown

amumu isn't really banned very much
his ban rate in bronze is 3.4% and in zilver is 3.6% (compared to 46% and 57% for ekko)

he is picked a lot, though, compared to other junglers
in silver only lee sin is picked more often than amumu (though amumu is still only picked 5% of the time)
in bronze yi and volibear are the more picked

counterplay.xyz has this cool graph even:

Image

amumu and volibear are the two dots in the top right
lee sin is at the bottom left; on the bronze graph yi has the role of favorite-jger-with-middling-winrate

amumu (and volibear) are gods, and even bronzies seem to know it
but for some reason ekko, kindred, fizz and yi all earn more bans than volibear, and many more champs eat more bans than amumu

a lot of those champs are played in other roles too so that might be the main reason
7/10 of the champs more banned than amumu are also played in top or mid quite a bit

Once the shard is forged, you also get an amount of blue essence depending on the champion's IP cost (I got 20 for Shen and 10 for Caitlyn, might be 0 for a 6300IP champ shard idk).

However, if you have all the 4800IP and under champs, you can get a 100% 6300IP champ for 5100IP this way, which saves you a lot of time.
sry but im pretty sure that the mystery shard can be any champ, owned already or not

But when you reroll shards, you only get one you don't have. So you buy 3 shards, reroll, get a 1200 ip discount.

Nunu bot, gent cho, and Corp mundo should be 750 skins.

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/f ... re-friends

this is cool
heimerdinger and teemo are really strongly linked
and they happened to be the first two champs i mained
even my dude karthus is tightly linked with heimy
it's weird to think that decisions i made pretty organically were actually part of a broader phenomenon

the champ most linked with lissandra is orianna so i'll probably try her next

i experience teamcomps making it harder or easier to win a game (no tanks, almost totally lategame-scalers, etc) but i know that these can be managed by players who handle their champions well

so guys
i have these two mages i like a lot
lissandra and ziggs
but it's hard to tell just when i should play one or the other
they're both control mages with really great waveclear and reasonable mobility
they have lots of key differences
lissandra handles mobile champions like yasuo much more nicely than ziggs does
ziggs has a lot more range and (also thanks to his kit) can siege more effectively
lissandra has loads of crowd control and strong engage
ziggs deals way more damage way more safely and across a larger area
lissandra also seems to be much more effective against single targets than ziggs while ziggs is more effective against groups of enemies than lissandra
now it seems sort of obvious that there's no hardset answer to this question; i'll have to learn a lot more about how champions interact in league before i can answer that question
for now i'm a lot better with lissandra and should probably just always pick her

it just sounds like a lot of empty complaining
i don't think anyone can intelligibly blame luck for long-run patterns
supports
do
still have a huge impact on whether a team wins or loses
i don't know how i'm just silver but these are facts

his skills are pretty aoe and so well-suited for clearing when an enemy is not around

sry but that's not true
depending on your elo, kled, ashe, sona, amumu, annie, gp are probably all better bans than irelia

and kled is the most or second most banned champ so you won't see him enough to justify irelia with that logic

op.gg's new(ish?) champion analytics section is pretty legit
their matchups section in particular helps break down how being matched with a certain champion in lane impacts factors like cs, kill rate, and objective control
not perfect but cool it hikn\

also new ryze's winrate at high experience finally broke 50% this patch so maybe i did speak too soon before when i argued he was weak

it's a trade-off
ap build deals more damage in theory but mallet ensares enemies long enough to actually get damage off / kill them and/or more successfully kite them
mallet is also tankier, ofc
right now the ap build is winning more but idk how to decide which to pursue in a given game

EDIT: actually which build is winning more depends on which site you check i guess

http://na.op.gg/champion/teemo/statistics/top

his winningest (not most popular) skill order now prioritizes w over q, which makes sense if you're not building ap, i think
will be nice to try that out

went 7/0/16 as zac top in a ranked s4 game

as https://web.archive.org/web/20160614062 ... on/Zac/Top suggests, his csing is weak but even in bad matchups it's hard to feed with him and he scales handily into a disruptive ap tank and earlygame roams pretty effectively especially against immobile midlanes

i generally prefer midlane so this pick seems to be reasonably conservative given the time i've been putting into learning the role

whenever zac top pops up on champion.gg his cs is among the worst of everyone else who frequents the lane though i may be unfairly comparing him to the ranged champions i normally play

still, besides his q, his skills aren't quite safe csing tools (using e blows your escape) and involve a sacrifice of health, making it easy for enemies with good poke or hard cc to outtrade and zone you especially early game

imagine using your e/w to cs in a lane with darius or wukong, for example

ziggs' attacks outrange kogmaw's, don't have to land so often (he's pretty squishy), and are hard for such an immobile champ to avoid

i picked a poke midlaner (ziggs) into a tanky hard engage comp (braum, amumu, ekko, katarina, cait) silly me
but frankly i'm unsure what i should have picked instead
should i have taken an midlane adc like corki with repositioning skills so that i'd be more able to kill tanks and selfpeel from engages?
should i have taken lissandra or sol and used my aoe cc/invulnerability to diminish their engage but giving up the range/dps necessary to actually kill anyone?
would karthus's raw damage and soft-cc from his w/rylais been the best choice?
woe is me woe is me
azir probably would have done a decent job with his own dps, repositioning and peel-ult but i don't want to bother learning him especially in the state he's in now

oh right morg
and galio
i also think i did the wrong build
abyssal scepter should have come a lot sooner, as a well as a champ pick that could more effectively abuse it

So I want to compare my toplane ranked stats when playing as karthus with my midlane ranked stats when playing as karthus. Does anyone know of a site that can pull that (comparing champion performance between roles for a particular summoner name) off?

ivern did already get a buff and there are plans for a daisy ai fix
hope there'll be more; not sure why some of these changes weren't made pre-release
but i do think his weaknesses as a champ are somewhat overstated

i've learned the api
eventually i'll be nonlazy enough to do my own studies
i wonder if you guys have any ideas?

one thing i'm interested in doing is using the "provides for the team" section of lolguru's champion pages to examine how abstracted champion strengths like "Poke", "Disengage" or "Zone Control" are represented within solo queue and contribute to winrates both overall and within/against particular team compositions

shouldn't produce terribly surprising results in general but might uncover or highlight some dynamics of the metagame
maybe as a pilot i'll just relate the stuff with champion.gg statistics
but maybe i should think of more productive ways to use my time

So the straightforward way to do it is just that - identifying winrates for abstracted champion strengths rather than champions. That obviously isn't some perfect measure of the overall effectiveness of a champion strength (some champion strengths are included in teamcomps as a response to the inclusion/exclusion of other strengths elsewhere, for example), but it's as a good a measure as most champion winrates are.

More interestingly, for each champion strength, we can look at its effectiveness (and other factors, like popularity) in the context of other champion strengths co-selected for a team or its opponent. Like maybe zone control works especially well on the team when a team has one or more carries, or maybe too many of one champion strength (too many carries?) depresses the effectiveness of that champion strength. This sort of analysis allows for a more abstract analysis of team comp dynamics that avoids getting bogged down in the specifics of individual champions.

Often when people talk about which champions belong on or against a team, they speak more about strengths than about specific champions, they talk about "peel" or "waveclear" rather than Janna or Ziggs specifically. In general, hopefully segmenting stuff by champion strength instead of champion will help us draw or confirm suspicions of connections that before were ambiguous because, for example, a particular champion with a particular kit isn't doing well this patch.

Blah blah blah.

The statistics seem sort of complicated, but it's apparent that people will be satisfied at first with less rigorous methods as long as holes in statistical logic are made obvious...

also, i've made a script that scrapes the winrate/experience curves for each champ from lolking, as that stuff is hard to see on the same screen
is anyone interested in that data?

so i just got to level 5 with ivern and want to talk about his changes
HEALTH GROWTH STAT: 74 ⇒ 90
BASE MAGIC RESIST: 30 ⇒ 32
BASE ATTACK SPEED: .625 ⇒ .644
ATTACK SPEED GROWTH STAT: 2.8 ⇒ 3.4

Passive - Friend of the Forest
STARTING GROVE HEALTH COST 30% max health ⇒ 25% max health

E - Triggerseed
EXPLOSION RANGE INDICATOR Triggerseed's range indicator now only displays to Ivern's target

R - Daisy!
LOOK DOWN, DAISY If no enemy champions are nearby, Daisy now targets enemy minions when her current target dies rather than returning to Ivern
BE AGGRESSIVE, DAISY Daisy no longer fails to attack enemy champions if they can't see her

Q - Rootcaller
COOLDOWN 16/15/14/13/12 seconds ⇒ 14/13/12/11/10 seconds
NEWTREE SIN Ivern can now reactivate Rootcaller to take the dash portion of the ability in addition to issuing a basic attack

R - Daisy!
HEALTH 1250/2000/3500 ⇒ 1250/2500/3750
PUSHING DAISY Daisy should generally be smarter when it comes to following Ivern’s commands
Ivern is really good now.

the buff to daisy's tankiness (and it still has 50% AP scaling!) means with regular shielding she can solo towers on her own without minion support, .
And her AI in combo with his CC makes every teamfight a 6v5!
She doesn't just stand around anymore, and she doesn't die as quickly.
In my last normal, (with my shielding) she was able to tank and take down a 60% health turret without any minion help, and while being attacked.
I find as ivern the literally all I have too is send her into the fray, constantly E her or a teammate and land Qs. There's basically no interaction with the enemy team (cait's attack range is 650; his lowest range spell has a range of 750), rendering ivern's contribution to teamfights something like a long range tank
her initial movement speed, and ability to dash to ivern's q and carry his e makes her engage reasonably strong and unreasonably safe for ivern;
the risk that normally comes with diving into the enemy team just doesn't exist for ivern because of his ult

did you know she keeps fighting while ivern is being revived via guardian angel?
ivern is totally untargettable for those 4 seconds, and the enemy team is left with a 3750HP juggernaut still harrassing them
ion

another item that i and a lot of other people have found success with is a mejai's soul stealer as a second item (after athene's);
only 2 jgers die less often than ivern - sejuani and zac; none of them scale well with AP like ivern does
and of course, since ivern is the only support jungler, no other jungler gets as many assists as him
this makes the payoff from the item comparatively reliable, especially combined with the guardian angel
though of course there's still considerable disagreement over how to build him

and have you seen the way the mastery changes impacted him? greenfather's gift and courage of the collosus are both boons for him, and accessible in the the same build!

this is a bit disorganized, but they really gave ivern everything he needed to be fine, and then they gave him more; i think i'll main him for a while and wonder if he'll be nerfed sometime
the clearest thing about ivern that
has
gotten worse for him over the last few patches is his clear; the smite nerfs and his incapacity to benefit from jungle item changes makes his csing slower
that said, stats suggest he still cses better than 30 other junglers (a rank improvement by 10 places) and that it's his invades rather than his own clear that was impacted by these changes (he fell 40 places in counter jungle cs to become the worst counter jungler of all. 40!)

vayne/sion/syndra are a real problem for him though considering how central the ult is to his teamfighting

much harder to get an S with ivern than it used to be
not in the sense that he's harder to play, but that it takes better kdr, csing, etc to earn it

apparently when ivern Es someone, the damage is treated by the game as committed
by
that person; this might be a bug
this leads to statistics sites underestimating his damage output on the one hand, but more concretely it means cs taken with ivern's E is granted not to him, but the teammate shielded, making his support game more effective
similarly (i haven't confirmed this in-game), it might mean kill gold from kills taken with his E is granted to the shielded player rather than Ivern himself
consequently inflating his assist count while deflating his kill count
really interesting stuff

i'm sort of a cautious player who dies a lot less than other people in my elo, while my kill participation is around average
this makes me wonder if mejais would be a good idea in most of my AP picks

idk
in low elo games, kills happen left and right
the game i linked above involved 94 kills for example
if kill participation is high enough and i hardly ever die, then though i'm not snowballing (except in the sense that my mejais is stacking and my kdr is fine), my mere caution makes the item scale reliably
