The fact that eventually I will have to
kill him
makes me sad. It was an annoying quest but I formed an attachment to the poor bugger.

What is the difference between the normal Skyrim and the remastered? More content?

Pretty much nothing.

Honestly, just use the normal Skyrim with all DLC. There's way more mods for it...don't be like me.

apparently it has something to do with ram overhead that scripts use or something along those lines.

I just wanted to say that the animations for a one-handed sword are so much better than an axe.

Still only playing Oblivion, but it's starting to feel a little grindy. Need to shut down some gates and continue main storyline, I guess.

I went back to this after an eternity. I got caught up in the College of Winterhold, and meh. I don't know if it's this questline, but man am I bored of talking to someone, going to dungeon, fighting draugrs/mages, obtaining item, going back to person. I reckon the reason why I initially stopped was because getting to Winterhold was so fucking horrible, and the payoff was meh that I decided to try Witcher instead. (incidentally stopped that as well) I came back to it a couple of days ago and I got started with that questline and I realised, I care very little for any of the characters, it may be that my character is a Nord male, who I tried to make look like me, if I was in the shape I wanted to be in. But my character has very little social interaction, I mean he's silent but urgh can't he be shaped by my interactions. It's a big game, I know and I realise that given all the characters distinct personalities is difficult, but sometimes I wish there had been more of an effort in this regard. I mean favourite character is a minor cat-person in the mages guild. Because he has a personality - not a completely pleasant one, but at least that makes him feel real. Also Narfi.

My character, himself, started as a warrior, before turning to stealth archer, which is apparently what loads of people do... I realised this when I was playing before - hence the mage guild. Except I learnt today/yesterday that a lot of the quests are fucking horrible as a mage and are easier in pretty much any other way. Especially since my skill points went into stealth, archery, one handed weapons and light armour. My sneaking is rusty, but it's amazing how much a difference being able to fire a large number of quickfire shots from my bow makes to the games difficulty. It also made it more fun, which seems like a fatal flaw. I mean the only magic I used was the amount of potions/poisons I used to defeat The Caller because fuck me that was difficult despite being back to being full archer by that point. (am a bit grumpy I only found the "arrows do 30% more damage" potion in my inventory after about the 6th time I tried) It's the Mages guild, I should be erm... mage-ing!

Then the I have to listen to Tolfdir for ages again, then talk to the Augur who talks for ages. Meh, I want characterisation, I want story but there has to be better ways than all this exposition...

I mean Im glad I came back to the game, and I plan to play it for at least a while longer, but man, do I wish for some recurring characters who have more of an arc than "over-arching evil guy in questline" and "kindly character who will almost certainly die" and "orc-librarian who could have been a cool character if they had shut him up once in a while or recorded him more than 2 lines of dialogue" - I swear to god I am going to rob every book in that fucking library, drop them all then use that fire enchant I had to learn to get into the damned place and burn them all in front of him. Then I'm going to immolate him. There are frustrations. Ones that would make this great game into a truly immersive experience, as it is now, I don't quite understand the fun of going through very similar cave/dungeon type area for an item, beyond the first few. But maybe I'm missing something?

I don't think I ever completed the mage questline. I never really did it on my main guy cause it didn't fit his personality/goals/playstyle. Then i made a mage and still got bored with it.

The thief playstyle was w/o a doubt the most entertaining to me. Being a brawler was fun too for a bit.

I just started a new Morrowind character actually. I never gotten very far into it, and it's a lot of fun. The mechanics are a bit different, leveling is silly, but the roleplaying is a lot more immersive than any other TES game I've played. Instead of just following a waypoint, you actually have to get directions, have them written down, follow signs, etc. There's no fast traveling - except by silt strider or mage's teleportation spells. It's really fantastic. There's a reason this is the game that made Bethesda.
