Underlords has a play vs bots option that you can use to learn to play if youre interested in that
Different levels of bots and i think you can turn the timer off so you can take as long as you want to read the abilities and stuff.

knights are op rn tho, I just won 2 games back to back going dragons+knights and trolls+knights
I think its becasue not only do they have really strong alliance abilities (the recent buff where they keep some resistance while out of formation is pretty sweet), but the units themselves are really strong and synergistic (omniknight and dragon knight by themselves activate the human bonus, chaos knight is your team's demon, and batrider opens up all the insane troll synergy - I had 2 2-star troll warlords in the last game)

What I've heard so far about underlords is that knights, dragons, mages are super brokem right now with the buff. Is it that bad?
On mobile autochess knight/glacier/warlock is currently the dominating strategy and it's getting boring.
They did tease gods a week ago so I hope those are coming soon.
Knights are strong at the top ranks right now, but its a far cry from pre-patch Mages. It's kind of a triangle at the moment with Knights beating Hunters, Mages beating Knights, and Hunters beating Mages.
Tide+Medusa continues to be the strongest duo in the game, although CK+Omni is waaaay up there now.
One thing to note is that yes DK slots into both Mages and Knights and he's definitely at a premium atm. Probably the single strongest unit in the game now.

So gods has been released for a few days on mobile now, and they're insanely strong. God of war is flat out the best tank in the game, and gods bonus alongside certain units and a source just breaks it.
I think we might see a nerf coming later on?
Haven't tried the new separate Autochess. Was super addicted when it first came out the first few months.
Not a huge fan of Underlords, feels way more low skill and far worse RNG+balance than autochess. Plus no chatting in a social game is absurd. Still been playing Underlords but, well. Part of what was so fun about Autochess was chatting with others and just having a good time in general, especially since the community was smaller at the high tiers (not to mention with friends).

I just wanna point out that I've been having a lot of fun with Teamfight Tactics and I'll probably spam ranked when it comes out if I have the motivation to do that.
I'm worried about getting married to the wrong member of the dota autochess genre, though, if one of the other autochesses are better.
But teamfight tactics itself is still in beta so it might change a lot. So. Hrm.

While I understand why you would feel that way, I can tell you that it feels nothing like artifact.
They definitely have different people working on it than artifact.

to be fair though, 2-star lich is absurdly powerful.

take one of the 2 early game factions and then transition into another thing, or if I get lucky and either level 3 of key units quickly or get purple units quickly, just run the early game faction all the way through. Played my Pawn-5 ranked game, finished 3rd. am bummed. 2 wins and 1 3rd in ranked so far. I lost trying to go egregis warriors. but my egregis duders didn't come as fast as i liked and I *probably* should of audibled into 9 warrior.
