ZOOTR (Zelda Ocarina of Time Randomizer) Thread

I've been getting into this recently and improving. I might log how I'm doing with runs and things here, because it's interesting (and because it would be fun if others also did things/races and stuff?)

I feel like we've discussed OoT before.

This sounds fun I didn't realize it had been done on OoT I've just heard of the nes/snes versions I think.

My first game on site was Reckmonic's OoT mafia that you and I were in and you were Link and I was Nayru and we both lived to endgame.

I think we talked about it then.

Also yeah, I love it and it's super fun.

I've wondered if this is something I should get into - taking a good game and then

playing it the intended way is relevant to my interests - but the barrier to entry seems a little high (ROM, controller, time, memorizing the Hyrule Field grottos). Watching others race it is fun, though.

I've never actually played but I've watched for years. Happy to figure out a setup to play to race or co-op with someone.

I have become an expert at it by this point so I am also gappy to help setup multiworld, coop or races.

The rim is easily obtainable and while for legal reasons I can't tell you here I can either point people in the right direction or tell you privately.

Controller is admittedly more needed but also cheap. Any switch controlled with USB works

Also there is only 5 hyrule field grottos that matter unless you are using scrub or token sanity. Memorizing then helps but there are also checklists and trackers that do that shit for you

It is super accessable and easy to get into tbh

Anyone ever have an idea and then someone else does it and you get salty because I totally thought of the Zelda 1 randomization independently, inspired by the changes in the second quest and desirous of further opportunities to play the game fresh.

But then you have to actually make it of course.

I have been doing shoutcasting for the Season 4 torunament recently which has been fun.

I don’t play randomizer myself yet but I’ve been an avid watcher since like Fall/Winter of 2018. I mostly like watching LTTPR (and SMZ3) and Metroid Prime 1+2 Randomizer

I've never watched a metroid prime random, is there a good introductory video for someone that doesn't remember much about the prime games?

I’d probably suggest watching a 100% speed run first to get familiar with where all the items are as a gateway to any randomizer

Its more just knowing there the key item locations and boss locations are. I've learned more going through the randomisers with EmoTracker showing me where I can go at any particular time.

Like I also do Chrono Trigger Randomisers (Because of course I do) and the routing changes on those quite a bit so the maps always good.
