hello dann, kitty.
initial thinking is that informed is much more valuable than multitasking. there's decent odds we don't ever really get the chance to take advantage of multitasking whereas informed is at least guaranteed information + fakeclaim potential.

Checking other games, I hadn't realized that what we pick here between multitasking and informed gets made public. I'm not sure that that changes things significantly, but it's at least worth keeping in mind.
Honestly, I'm not sure. Multitasking is a lot more valuable if we expect to actually get roles, and vice versa for informed. I suppose we should also probably talk about our strategy for number picks, if we want to try to have one at all instead of just rolling the dice (which is a valid strategy on its own). Picking some number >10 seems pretty much guaranteed to get at least a top 5-6 spot. I also think that at least one of us should just outright pick 1 – it's risky, but based on the past few games seems like actually not a bad bet for just getting the number one spot. (Assuming we want the number one spot – it's a lot of heat and could potentially be more trouble than it's worth)
Every time I join a PYP I go through the same info digging, I really should have just saved all this stuff in a file somewhere.

That's a good point. Getting reduced to 1 and leashed or something and having things end that way is definitely a possibility, and it might be worth it to avoid even the possibility of that situation rather than to take the small EV bump from the information. After all, I'm not sure how valuable fakeclaiming
actually is
here, given that roles aren't actually inherently scum or town.
Yeah, I think right now I actually lean towards multitasking a bit more, you're right.

Two low, one "high" (around 10 or above) seems like a pretty consistently decent strategy for mafia in these games.
In post 13, Dannflor wrote:I sort of wonder if any of us fit the personality profile of someone who would want to pick 1 as town, I think I probably wouldn't
That might not actually matter though
Yeah, I also thought about this. I think that normally I might not pick one, but honestly considering how I just looked at the last few games and saw it as a decent pick I think I actually might have this time – i also think that i could easily argue that coming back from such a hiatus i would be completely fine just having a VT game and shooting for the moon. So it can be me if necessary, I think

from what i remember scumteams always talk about doing this but almost never do (except one time, i think). i think i'd be fine doubling up on a higher number if we really wanted to go for that angle. the town getting to PoE a lot of people because one of us doubles up with a bunch of townies, dies, and they figure (reasonably) that we would never pick the same number is a pretty bad scenario.

hmm
i think actually maybe picking 1 might not be the best idea. the number one slot is always under a ton of scrutiny in these games and it might not actually be in our best interests.

actually i think i probably would genuinely pick bulletproof if i hit the number one slot so i think i could make it work, although it'd be relying on my ability to actually play scum during the day which is historically questionable

this is both a reminder to myself and i guess a notice that i'm going to try to deliberately play in as much of an "openwolf" manner as i can, e.g. instead of just hanging back and trying to look towny i think that i will try to actively push elims on town targets we want to get rid of

welp. all things considered, it's not the worst result. we've got two in the top 6, which isn't terrible. the five one block could theoretically be a problem if town figures that scum never double picks things, though (which is a decent bet). luckily there are some pretty mislimmable people in that block along with me so maybe the power of that will overcome the reasoning that scum doesn't double pick.
i would personally always go for the chance of some kind of actual power role even if we don't get it just for both the information that it's above us and to deny it to anyone below us in case it actually wasn't picked
unless you think neighborizer significantly helps you pocket / gives you good cover as non-scum

play however you feel is best because between the two of us you are demonstrably the one who understand more about how to play scum, but i have no plans to respond to porkens' post and will probably just completely drop the discussion on "downplaying" so it might be helpful if you also do the same
