heh!

Do you have a guess for the scum team?

On Night 2 I'm going to give The Gallery a pseudo night action -- track. Who to track will be a consensus choice and I'll put the track results in this thread.

My goal is to start the game in 7 days. The allowable timeframe is 10+ days, but I think 7 should be good unless my reviewers have availability probs (I don't expect this) or they have big issues with the design.

I like to involve reviewers from the start, so big issues are discovered quickly before I get too far along!

The last uPick I ran was in 2021. It was a 17 player game, and had an original mechanic, as well as pre-daystart and twilight phases. That game took 7 days to design IIRC, and two of the reviewers are reviewing this game, too.

The pseudo actions I give the Newbie dead thread is meant to be something to discuss once the game has developed some, and as maybe a way to focus on scumhunting in a different way.

My mafia mentor on one of the sites where I learned mafia recommended going into Night 1 answering the following questions: Who would I cop? Who would I protect? Who would I roleblock? Who would I vig?

Coming up with answers to those questions would help me decide how to use any power role I had in games. And it was also really good for looking at the Night 1 kill. Did the person I would have protected die? If not, am I wrong about them being town? etc.

That's kind of the beauty of a pseudo night action. It has no effect on the game or on scum players' calculus. It's purely driven by the reads of the spectators. So, you don't have to worry about scum trying to avoid or play around your pseudotrack.

omg nooo!!! I took a long break from mafia, came back, rolled scum in 2/2 games, this was my first town since being back, so I was HYPED!!! like, "let's go! full solve mode!!" but I just needed help from people.. not "your team read sucks" I needed "your read on X sucks cause of this..."

me in a PT is dangerous lol I do not lurk!!! I should've been your turf war buddy!!!

Fun fact I had like a 2500 post PT with a scum, I was town... good times lmaoo

Probably a me thing, but I never take that kind of comment in a game personally. I see it as "I'm townreading you to the nth degree, but we can't work together because of your suspicion of me". Which is a fair assessment as town and is a town-looking manipulation if scum.

I'd like for you not to spoil your alignment, but if the players in this thread want spoilers I'm ok with it.

Let's wait and see what they want.

And I ask that you use spoiler tags if and when.

I'm really sorry you had to be replaced!

Let's wait until postgame to talk about that.

I will say It was a replace out that wasn't due to any player making a mistake or doing anything wrong.

I got the out of game information that Kanna was town (but I started townreading her even earlier but thought it didn't make sense because of her own explanation of why elpis conftown).

This happened to me in a recent game. I quoted someone in my personal PT and they got a notification about it. The tech people pushed out a fix, but it left out a corner case, hence you getting that notification.

Spoiler: funny spoiler
I was scum using a personal PT instead of the mafia PT because I didn't want to clutter that up with my half-baked ramblings and partially drafted posts for the main thread.

So your assumption about Kanna's alignment was right, but didn't necessarily have to be. I'm not the only player who also uses a notes PT as scum, though that is probably a minority of players who use private notes pts.

In my game, the listmods decided the notification wasn't game breaking, mostly because the player list was a bunch of jaded veterans who wouldn't and didn't make a bet the farm assumption that my having a notes PT meant I was town.

Spoiler: obvious spoiler

Spoiler:

Huh. So If I were a veteran I wouldn't have to be replaced technically?
Also it's like I was townreading her so bad but it just didn't make any sense why Elpis hadn't pushed for the early lim on me, and I just KNEW patch was town so I was at the impossible situation if having 3 town and 1 scum and from a voting standpoint Kanna was the only possible scum otherwise I would've been hammered. Then when I saw it it dawned on me that my townread was correct after all.

I guess Elpis just wanted to drag it on? Or they didn't feel confident enough that Kanna would vote with them?
Spoiler: well...
Probably mostly to do with it being a newbie game and wanting to be extra careful. I don't know anything about the convo between you and listmods so I can't speculate beyond that.

How do you use your notes pt as a wolf?

During the day, I use it similarly to how I would as town. pointing up posts I don't want to lose track of and drafting long posts I want make in the game thread. I make notes about potential PRs as any alignment.
In post 169, Alisae wrote: I didn't know that there was a bug regarding quote notifications in PTs
that's wild

I couldn't believe I was the first player to trip that bug. It was really fortunate no one had done that from a mafia PT because the notification shows the name of the PT as well as who quoted you.

It's going to be a long time before I quote another game thread post into a PT, just to be sure.

I went through my notes PT. I started it in late 2020. It contains notes about 5 games.

I've made 13 posts in it. I'm not exactly a prolific PT user.

It's been such a strange game I'm really not sure what happens next.

This isn't the first time scum had an opportunity to hammer for the win.
