Frankly my stance on the subject is that if someone else suggests it I'll go "sure why not" and roll with it but I absolutely will not ever initiate it myself because I'm just like.

tbh if I was a 1-shot BP and this strat was a thing, I wouldn't claim my BP right away, see if there is a tracker, and if there is a tracker and I have to claim just claim doc.

Same thing if I'm a doc and it's a tracker doc setup, Tracker is outed, then I out 1-shot bp right away as a doc.

Personally my favorite setups are the Cop VT Goon one, or both JKs.
rb cop doc is just meh

I mean personally I keep saying we need more setups but the problem is while I might design closed setups just fine my Open setup skills are absolutely abysmal in crafting so I can't help the efforts there that much. I maintain Matrix6b (as in, Universal Backup instead of Bulletproof) would be a good start but even then we need something more.

Why does the newbie setup need to be open?

The newbie setup needs to be something which newbies can understand.
It needs to be something repeatable. And closed games are by their very nature not repeatable.
The newbie queue is not a place for mods to have fun experimenting with roles and whatnot.
It is meant to have consistency.
Every game should give a similar environment.

That's not to say we couldn't use more than one newbie setup--we can!
But any and all setups we'd use in addition to/instead of Matrix6 would need to follow these same standards.
