Role randomization:
1. There are two 12d26 dice rolls to help resolve ties.
2. The player either at 23 or closest to it is watcher (because W is the 23rd letter in the alphabet).
3. The closest three numbers to 23, higher or lower, are goons (keep your friends close and your enemies closer).
4. Everyone else is a town backup.
The second string has both a single player at 23 and no ties that need to be resolved, so that's what I would use.

Possible issues I can see with the current, fairly quiet game state:
- Time of year: It's back to school season, which might limit the amount of time people can/want to spend on mafia vs. being in classes or doing school work (whether students or teachers). Simultaneously, for those not involved in school, the end of summer can be a vacation/moving time.
- Leniency with prods: Am I being too nice with prods? Do Kop and Reundo's posts after being prodded not count at "game-related comment
"? On the other hand, if I wasn't lenient, I might have 3 outstanding replacement requests, instead of just one.
- Plurality lynches: The site standard is majority, non-compulsory lynches, and the lack of pressure to gain a majority may lead people to not be as motivated, knowing that without a lot of effort someone will be lynched every day anyway.
- Time of game: Day 1 seems fairly unpopular, especially for town players, given their lack of information and high chance to mislynch.
- Day phase length: With the updates to the Newbie Queue deadlines, there was a lot of talk about longer deadlines leading to more inactivity, especially given a lot of newer MafiaScum players come from sites with much shorter day phases (3-5 was a common range I saw). I'm not sure how big a factor it is in this game, frankly; but, just glancing at profiles, I do have a lot of 2017/2018 join dates.
Time of year and game will necessarily change (hopefully for the better), plurality lynches are a feature of the open setup I can't change, day phase length is something I set for this game but could think about changing for future games, and leniency of prods is something I have to think about both for the future of this game and any other games I might mod.
