Also, these games are semi-open setups so the fact that you're a rolecop means we have half the setup information. The VTs have no clue what the prs are and the 2 prs only have a small piece of information. We know that the setup is one of three possibilities:

Friendly neighbor/tracker
Friendly neighbor/jailkeep
Tracker/doctor

This is my second game as mafia last time I was doing well until I stuffed up my claim lol

Cool. I tend to play without a plan so we'll see how things develop. Now, my recommendation is to try and scumhunt. Look for things that look like an agenda and press on that. We'll think about wagon composition later. Dream is to have two town wagons on D1. Use this thread as much as you want. Im kinda not thrilled that I rolled scum in this game because I'm not gonna be around a great deal the next three days. But I should before active starting late on Friday.

So I’ve been absolutely paranoid and really worried about how I act as both town and mafia...

At the start of the game I tend to post a lot more and more sooner as town than mafia so that will be a great start. I’ve also noticed people think it’s scummy to give reason for voting at RVS. Imma try not to do that

What type of reason are you giving in RVS? Honestly if im not the first to vote in rvs I join a wagon, and I do that as town or mafia.

As mafia I mostly try and mimic my town game. Im like not terrible at figuring out who prs are so I need to get better about not pushing them during the day and just sniping them at night. I wouldn't say I'm good at scum, im mostly figuring it out, but im still trying to case people and lay down why I think they're doing scummy things. I just need to think more strategically in here about why im doing it. Also, im not a huge fan of bussing. I think you do it when necessary.

Yeah that does seem like an unnecessary added justification. Like it could come from a scumindset of I need to explain my behavior so it doesn't seem suspect, but it seems pretty random tbh. Look, in a 9 player game, any player at random has a 22 percent chance of being scum. I dont know that D1 elim rates of scum are that high. So town make mistakes. Alot. Our goal as scum is to capitalize on that. Dont worry about being on a wagon for someone thats playing in a way that you would think is scum. The primary thing that I look for are people that hedge or fencesit alot. Now I do the same thing because I'm cautious, but there is a scummy mentality to it of leaving you options open.

I dont see it. In general, players tend to think they're being obvious when they're playing as mafia. You're generally not. But if you get too much in your head, you may end up becoming a bit more obvious. Just play your game.

3. First, I look for how much the person is contributing. Not just linecount, but how much they have tried to make the game better for town. Second I look at tone. If they are saying something that seems to have an unclear or shady motive behind it, then they could be scum.
4. For townreads, I like to look at the emotion and thought shown in their posting. If someone is showing genuine emotions in their posting and/or putting well reasoned thinking into their posts, they are likely town.
