Yeah, it doesn't work that way. You might as well say that in a normal game scum could just say things to confuse the town and make scumpartner hunting pointless, but you can see through that type of thing, just like the scums can here.

FYI, I reckon that Shy Guy played an excellent game, and XD was the person who lost it for the town by being so utterly, stupidly, blatant about his reason to vote.
