Meh. I understand they wanted to move on from Crabtree and he's one of the best options they had so I'm ok with it. Doug Martin is a pretty nice compliment to Lynch too. Whitehead was the under rated signing of the day.

I think they're getting Darnold. It's funny because that's what I predicted in the preseason. But I thought they'd have the number one pick, not the three after trading up from six and still be able to get him.

We need to stop glorifying police. They are systemically rotten and full of rotten individuals
You're making it hard for me to bite my tongue but I don't want to get banned. So instead I'll comment on Brandon Marshall going to Seattle. It's hard to see that being a good fit.

There's no point on this site. You're more likely to get banned than change anyone's mind. That's why I stay out of political threads and post in sports ones.

It's probably because they missed out on some key WRs In free agency, still needed help at the position, and grabbed whoever they could. But with Dez, Maclin, and Decker still out there, they had better options so it's an interesting choice.

Seriously?
Seattle FO Dude #1: We need to reinvent this team by dumping the aging veterans. What should we do in free agency?
Seattle FO Dude #2: Sign Brandon Marshall
Brandon Marshall will play for all 30 teams before retiring.
Is that supposed to mean all or 30?

True, their schedule is soft. Just, they aren't a very good team themselves. I think the Browns beat them. I think the Bears and Colts have a chance. I could see the Miami games going either way. So if they can beat Denver and Miami once, they only have to steal a couple more games. He'll, Buffalo
could
be a win. I only expect two or three wins by the bye week, but I do agree with you that it's not exactly shocking if they manage to beat some of those other teams.

Well, everyone seems to believe the NFL is all about QBs so by that logic...Bortles got to the AFC Championship game last year. He's better than Watson, Jimmy G, and Luck.

Well loyalty doesn't mean you have to blindly root for the team closest to you.
I got my teams from an uncle I was close to while growing up. I've been fans of all of them for about as long as I can remember.
And fuck yeah I'm a Lakers fan. I live in Sacramento - what, am I supposed to root for the Kings?
I always wondered what it would be like to have a local team. I mean the city 5-10 minutes away recently got an AHL team and a pro indoor soccer team. But like a top level pro team....would be awesome.

Yep. So many years of thinking players are going to end up being something and then watching them fall on their faces. So many blowout losses. Then finally a good year in 2016 ended by injuries and be followed up by whatever the hell last year was. It's been rough.
I'm planning on going to a home game this year. Just need to figure out which one is best with my work schedule.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Jets surprised people this year. Not in a "Omg Darnold is taking them to the Super Bowl" kind of way. But more like the Bills last year where they quietly snuck into the playoffs, lost in the first round, and people are forgetting they were even there.

The Bengals look better than I expected but I'm far from ready to call them better than the Jags, Chiefs, and Pats. The Broncos, no. I know they are 2-0 but they aren't a good team. They're not finishing above .500.

Ravens/Saints announcers: Tucker has never missed an extra point in his career.
Me: Really? You have to say that? Way to jinx him.
Tucker: misses extra point
As soon as he said it everyone had to see it coming. They always do that. Lol.

like why can't this just be the reason that he was traded?
Gruden brings an intensity to practice that is meant to get the most out of his players. He looks for players who match that energy, feed off of it, and use it to make themselves better. Cooper is laid back. That started the rumor that he doesn't have passion for the game. He and Gruden don't work well together so they floated the idea of trading him for a 1st round pick. Then Dallas... actually did it.
There's also the whole "fresh start" idea with the Vegas move. Gruden wants his own team. His own guys. He wants to have full credit for what happens in Vegas (phrasing intentional). It's why they have more new players on the roster this season than any team other than Cleveland. When everyone thought they couldn't do anything in free agency because they have to pay Mack and Cooper, Gruden was active in free agency. You can't pay the guys that are already there now. So they get traded for first round picks, the team gets worse, and you hope they are set up for success once Gruden gets his team together in the new city.
So basically you end up with the perfect tanking recipe even if the intent wasn't necessarily play poorly to get better later. It's more Gruden's ego and desire for control blowing up the current team so he can put his own together.

His drops for sure are a big deal. But he's a pretty ok route runner. He's fast. He's definitely a big play threat. Whether he's a true #1 is debatable and really depends on his fit in any given team. I think he'll do ok in Dallas and is one of the best bets they could have found to fill Dez's shoes. I don't think Dallas was dumb to trade for him. I just was surprised they met Oakland's asking price.

Literally nobody is doing this.
Nobody here is, but I do hear that a lot. There's a lot of rhetoric out there that he led a team to the Super Bowl and was playing great and the 49ers only dropped him because of politics and it's insane that teams with bad quarterbacks aren't giving such a proven guy a chance to suddenly lead them to a Super Bowl.

Redskins have signed Mark Sanchez since Alex Smith is headed to IR. I thought Redskins were playoff bound, but now that division is up for grabs
I only know of Baltimore and Seattle. They were looking for a backup and he wanted starter money.

College is meant to prepare you for a career. If their career is football, I don't see why we care so much about the classes. A kid should be able to just major in football. For those good enough to do it, it's a great career path financially speaking. With that mindset, the scholarship that allows them to attend for free is compensation.

The halftime show is for non football fans. They know if you like football you are watching anyway. They are trying to draw in the people who are only watching for the halftime show.
