Oh my god, what innovative gameplay and really unique mechanics! They've redefined the genre, and really taken things to another level.

I refuse to do betas. I'll pay for finished games, and that's that.

Nope. Not worth my time anymore. I've done the beta dance, watched good feedback be ignored, or mixed with bad. I no longer believe devs use Beta for gameplay feedback. Look at Wildstar. It's launching in what, a few months, they'll overhaul the gameplay or something?

No, it's just a technical test. I'm not spending my time dealing with hardware issues.

Note: Xenonauts has been in beta nearly a year, has incorporated multiple gameplay fix suggestions, and is an amazing game. All rules have an exception, but an AAA title ain't gonna be it.

I look at quality of time. Like I spent an hour or so mining for shiterals in Mass Effect 2. Thanks Mass Effect 2.

Was that time really adding anything besides pain to my game?

Whereas something like Portal, I play through it enjoying the fuck out of the entire game, and can't find one wasted moment. Now obviously each game ain't gonna be portal, but a lot of games have a lot of "filler". And not fun filler like UFO missions in XCom, but no, actual just straight up filler, like "replay this level, but with MOAR" or "now go do some fuckaduck repetitive side quests"

Get System Shock 2

Die a lot

Rage

Enjoy a fucking actual tough game where everything works together and despite that you're a rat in a cage and someone's shaking it.

The stats for me are completely inaccurate.

Like it says I haven't played Day of Defeat, and I played the hell out of that. Same with Half Life 2 and Episode One (lol), Fallout 3 (lol), etc.

I wouldn't trust it at all.

Yeah if there was one drawback of the Fables books, it was they spent it all following Snow, who was the designated "straight woman" for a cast of lunatics. But they'd have been better off following the lunatics.

You're starting to sell me on buying that even though I typically hate visual novels.

Wasn't the point to list good games that weren't 3D platformers?

Welcome to new-age Bioware! Truthfully, unless you're a D&D nut, Bioware games have pretty much never been 'fun', but you still played them because the dialogue and story was good. And those aspects have been slowly going downhill since Mass Effect 2(I blame the original founders leaving the company, Hamburger Helper being chased out of the company by Reddit and Gaider having no one to keep him in check).

They really should just give it up and make the visual novels they want to make.

Really? I thought Mass Effect 2 & 3 had really good gameplay. And maybe I'm a sucker for the old Baldur's Gate games, but the first Dragon Age had pretty fun tactical gameplay as well.

The entire KOTOR series was really the nadir of their gameplay, for all I love the games. Jade Empire was really bad too.

Sad to hear them slipping back to their old ways.

Slay the Spire has been absolutely killing my free time, and I love it.

I admit I'm getting a tad frustrated with high ascension levels. Ascension 11 is stonking bullshit, and there's legit runs where I feel like I couldn't have done too much different.
