More like comparing eating actual shit to eating something that isn't actually shit. D&D is the worst.

Nah, D&D people are typically garbage people. Go to a local game night. You'll probably fit right in.

"Creeped" is a strong term when you've posted links and the very video I took a screen from on this site. But that's fine. I should remember not to click show post.

D&D is only as good as the people that you play with, and i've never been around or been in a group without at least one time wasting shitto, whiny idiot, or someone who built a character who is actually useless. Chances are if you don't have any of those things in your group, it's you. D&D is theoretically a good game, but rarely in practice.

I'm sure by someone's standards, sure. Around the 8th minute of someone explaining their backstory(or the 1st minute of the inevitable re-explanation) or talking to a npc about something completely menial and general time wasting, I start playing hearthstone on my phone. TAZDINGO!

And to that end, the MS online D&D was actually the most enjoyable, cause despite it being more filled with garbage, I was in my house so I could play fifa and eat snacks and wait for the good parts in the comfort of my own home

i think this is true for a lot of boardgames too, especially social deduction games

tho ofc a dnd game can be completely thrown off track by one random shitter, so far i've managed to be in groups w/ fairly decent people.

And Social deduction games are the worst board games. So like...there you go, I guess. Social deduction games are at least short, usually.

i loath co-op games and have been enjoying the difficulty of it

just enough randomness to stop people from planning out forever and enough forewarning to let you theoretically play around everything coming at you

its like into the breach the board game if youve played that

I played Tammany Hall yesterday with 5 players and it's super fun.

did you encounter any issues with kingmakering

both times ive played it weve ended up in a situation where a player who couldnt win was in the position to decide who won and that always leaves a bad taste in my mouth

its a bit rules heavy at first, and you WILL make mistakes that alter the course of the game. But once you get used to it, it's quite fun. My only downside is the almost 100% predictability of everything makes me just plan forever (I've only played it as a single player, doubt I would be this anal in coop). The expansion has an event deck that adds randomness, which I think would help alot. It also adds a ton of cards and more spirits. But the downside is even more complexity with 4 added mechanics, which just make my brain hurt.

I haven't tried upping the difficulty up past the base game though, so perhaps I should try going up against some stronger foes to see if that helps.

I did not, because all 4 other players conceded to me on year... 12, as the election ended. The score after that round was going to look something like me at 19 points and my closest opp. at 12? 13? and everyone else between 9 and 10?

Essentially, I won Tammany and 2 other districts on Green for 4 points and won mayor on a tiebreaker (all 5 players had 3 wards, and no one had more than 6 support tokens, of which all 6 of mine were Green) to score 7 round 1 to everyone elses 3. Then, round two, I managed to hang on to the same 3 wards I had held prior for another 4 points to go to 11. The scores that round were 11, 10, 6, 5, 5 (the 10 player won mayor). Then I won 5 Wards because of how bidding shenanigans went down and how I'd manipulated things, to score 5+3 for 8 to go to 19 and people conceded on the spot. I think the scores were going to be 19, 13, 9, 7, 7.

Also I feel like I'm not doing Ocean's Hungry Grasp mechanics right. Is it all you have to do is push/gather stuff into the Ocean tile then they are dead, fear is generated and can be exchanged for energy?

Games are so easy when using them, that this doesn't seem right.
