Tell me your top scumreads and why.
If two scum reads you have contradict another explain it.

Is there any theories/sorting in your iso you feel you don’t think is accurate at all anymore or you wouldn’t stand by right now?
So very this.

Because frankly it deserves an explanation. A few days ago I said that my only strong impression was that Reck/Fire was TvT. I changed my mind.

Why is this hard to understand? I may not really be paying attention, but I remember what I said. Besides, someone else would have thrown it in my face. I can't be a True and Loyal Bringer of Fire if my sheeping gets discredited, can I?

I hate the word 'reads.' It's a stupid buzzword. I prefer to sort people.

And given that my most frequent method is to copy/paste the player list and actually move them around into columns and piles, 'sorting' is the actual operative verb.

So eat me.

i hate it because "DURR HURR WHY ARENT U TRYIN 2 SORT PPL" is the rallying warcry of idiocy with this generation of the meta and what they mean is "why aren't you pressing anyone"

Aha, but you're ascribing to me what you hate about others. I like the verb 'to sort,' but I reject the baggage you associate with it.

We're kind of on the same page here with regard to whippersnappers, we just have a vocabulary disagreement.

Eh, the 'new style' thing doesn't actually concern me. People
actually do
experiment with new styles. Some of them are just too lazy to go to an alt to do it.

I think the key is, did they make the announcement before role PMs went out? If so, it's hardcore NAI. If not, it's softcore NAI.

PE: Whoa, that's a scummy post. I'll listen to further arguments against mutant now. See, he's doing the same thing I'm doing, but he actually gives a shit what people think about him before he starts real!playing.

I wasn't throwing a fit about the AA9 wagon until I read that ISO. It's a VERY clear lynchbait counterwagon, and the ease and rapidity with which it developed makes me pretty certain it was meant to deflect the momentum on either Reck or Mutant. Possibly both.

@Fire: Ur face is Growlithe.

Okay, so I just tracked down all the votes on AA9. With the sole exception of Vaxkiller, who's been parked on AA9 for about ten days, every single vote has been moved onto her in the last 36 or so hours. A wagon like that is scum-pushed.

ArcAngel9 - 8 (Vaxkiller, Gamma Emerald, northsidegal, Alisae, xRECKONERx, Vecna, CheekyTeeky, Brian Skies)

Fortunately, all of those are in chronological order.

So who's the scum there? Vax might be, but he's not in this VCA for now. GEmerald and NSG are the starter and first follower, and Alisae backed off when e saw how the wagon was developing suspiciously. Ditto Brian. Reck looks like the scum here, or perhaps Vecna, or both. They're in the positions that take it from a simple flashwagon into a crescendo, pulling in VI Cheeky and votehopper Brian.

VOTE: Reck

This is who we're lynching.

Part of me wants to insist, "If you don't want to be called a VI, don't act like one."

But I'm on a "Don't be an asshole" kick, so instead I'll apologize and simply counsel you to simmer down and come on a little less strong. Jumping all over the place, projecting absurd levels of confidence, sniping at other players...it's a recipe for people both disliking you and not taking you seriously. There are players around here I like both don't take seriously. There are players I quite
dislike,
but whose reads I respect/fear. Being disliked and disrespected is not a place you want to be.

Tell you what. One-time offer: clean slate. Relax, simmer down, and be more congenial, and we're going to be okay.

Not only *could* I have done something like that, a "let's clear the air and reset" post like that was the post which convinced Mastin I was Town so hard she abandoned Mastin for Mastin2 when she was wrong.

But really, it's because I am genuinely not an asshole. If my dismissal is actually hurting Cheeky's feelings, and she wants to get better, I don't hold a grudge. As an educator and soon-to-be-father, I'm more than happy to extend an olive branch and try to help her BE better. I do it regardless of my alignment because, again, I'm not an asshole.

Well for starters it's lazy

For another, the ridiculous ease with which it came together suggests there's enthusiastic scum on board, and almost screams that it's on an easy ML target.

For a third, being behind and having a difficult time catching up to a 70-page clusterfuck is understandable. It's pretty thoroughly NAI to me. If this were D3+ and she's doing the same active lurking, sure. But it sounds like she's having a hard time staying current.

For yet another, I imagine if she had access to a scum PT they'd have thrown her a bone, given her a quick and honest summary and pointed her in the direction of a victim. Instead she comes off lost and frustrated.

Finally, I really, really distrust the wagon composition. This looks like counterwagon bullshit.

When the AA9 wagon started, there were concerted efforts against Mutant, TBone, and yourself. I'm not sure which AA9 was supposed to counter, but it effectively shut down all three.

Personally, I think it was Mutant. His wagon had the most accelerating momentum at the time, while TBone's was already stalled. You're a suspect too, but the softclaim shenanigans has you on parole.

Blah blah blah

You're all underestimating the difficulty of catching up to a 73-page game. I have difficulty catching up when I'm even ten pages behind.

Lurking through D1 is not a valid reason for suspicion. It's condescension towards people with lives.

.

It's worth noting that AA9 being a potential mislynch is the only thing Pine seems to care about today. Surely his energy would be better spent convincing us Mutant is scum to which he still hasn't provided a reason beyond AA9 being a mislynch as a counterwagon to mutant. This change in Pine caring about the game started around the time LLD entered so I'm not sure if the coincidence is significant or not yet.
Bullshit to the bolded. People aren't perfect and noble; they stay in games they want to play in.

Again, this sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME. You fucks shitpost all day while the adults have work, school, children, and real lives, and then you condescend to us as if we're lazy for not having the time to catch up to a 70+ page game.

The AA9 lynch is LAZY, and ignores people who have actually been scummy.

Says an admitted shitposter.
I very rarely shitpost. In this game I fucked around a bit because that was what a lot of us were doing, and I usually suck at sorting on D1. I skimmed a lot of the first half of the game because it was pretty devoid of useful content.

Don't pull out the "yeah but" argument. It's a very bad strategy to point out someone else's alleged flaws to distract from the weaknesses in your own case. Just because I dicked around a bit this game doesn't make AA9 scum for having a hard time keeping up.

Last game i played with that aa9 the exact same thing happened. extra effort was promised but never came, resulting in a later game lynch on the slot. It was done as town tmaa9 that game, but its not like that means its ai this game.

I have no faith whatsoever that contribution is ever gonna come. A lynch is gonna happen on the slot regardless.
Not on D1. Probably not on D2. D1 is usually the toughest, and D2 is usually half the pace. D3 is often 1/3 the pace. At that point, there's no excuse, and it becomes suspicious.

When and if the lack of contribution actually manifests, we can talk about it. Until then, we have actual scummy players to investigate and lynch. On my agenda are Mutant and Vaxkiller, with Cheeky, LLD, Fire, and Reck previously dealt with. Also valid agendas would include sorting Alisae, Hyung and, frankly, you. I could also get behind pressuring hiplop, Penguin, and either Gamma, all of whom are similarly-low content slots which you seem to have no problem with. In fact, it's *really* suspicious that there's such an easy wagon on AA9, but no one wants to pressure any of those people. Personally, I find it to be tantamount to proof that she's Town.

Is there any reason why the entirety of the playerlist except <AA9, Vecna, NSG> are mentioned here?

Also, what do you mean by Cheeky, LLD, Fire, and Reck being previously dealt with?
The entirety of the playerlist except NSG is mentioned. The bolded 'you' refers to Vecna, and the entire premise of the post is a discussion about AA9. NSG has been on extended/intermittent V/LA and gets a broad pass for now. Curiously, you are also not addressed, but fail to mention that. As for the 'previously sorted' group, I was clearly talking about my own reads. I had just said that they weren't on MY agenda.

Take your time and congratulations, of course. This all said, if this game drags too long, we'll end up straight fucked.

So please, take your time, no pressure, but if you can't do this in some amount of reasonable time, perhaps consider your life is too busy to continue?

Cheeky is definitely not the lynch today.

Hyung is a bit of a troll, and I'd be happy to PL them with you. They'd be a really solid policy vig, too.

But there is absolutely no chance of rounding up a lynch there with two days left.

You don't get to complain about my choice.

You don't get to, when you almost lynched aa9 and fucking sunk this game into the depths of apathy.

I just caught scum for you. Does this look like this player is trolling to you? Are you going to defend them?

Because they're dying today. And you can either stand with me,
or I'll go through you
.

Your choice.
Are you reading the same game as I am? I'm the reason the AA9 wagon stopped, not a contributor to it.

There's two days left and the game is in apathy. Starting a brand new wagon on someone I don't actually agree is scummy doesn't make sense.

Okay, this got me to actually read the AA9 ISO.

The AA9 wagon is a really super obviously transparent scum-driven counterwagon. Not sure if against Reck or Mutant, but this makes me want to take a REALLY hard look at the people on the AA9 wagon and how it developed.
My first posts mentioning AA9.

Not sure what game you're reading, LLD.

Right now, I'm not a huge fan of either of you.

You're both on vanity wagons, and your vote could do a lot more good on actual scum with actual support for a lynch.

First of all, a lack of interest is not an expression of support.

Second, I credited you with making me sit up and pay attention.

Third, as soon as I saw the mounting momentum towards an apathy lynch, I did my homework and took action, becoming a crusader against it.

So please.

Tell me more about how the AA9 wagon is in any way my fault.

Be honest with yourself. There is not a lynch you cant get behind.
In a game this size, we expect four scum. Six SRs is not unreasonable.

And if I were down with any lynch, I’d have let AA9 go through instead of fighting tooth and nail against it.

Seriously, UT. With two new replacements, Penguin MIA, and AA9 as good as, we could really use an extension. It is not the fault of the active players that others are being lazy.

Also, the way the Vecna flashwagon went down at day end makes me think my reads D1 were complete trash, and that wagon was mostly or entirely Town. I think that also makes the alternatives to Vecna yesterday are also likely locktown, specifically AA9, hyung, and Vaxkiller.

Also, I received a pair of highly suspicious Google Glass without instructions last night so...uhhh...

Also also,

@Mod: Immediate emergency V/LA. Lady Pine and I about to leave for the hospital to welcome baby Pinecone! Yayyyy! I may or may not check in over the next couple of days, depending on how often I can/need to take a break from being a new dad. Posting should stabilize over the next week or so.

Break out the cigars!

Update: Home from the hospital, baby not quite ready yet. V/LA not rescinded, we could be headed back at practically any time, likely within the next 36 hours.

Full updates in the Speakeasy.

-You also won the votecounter role, which has fabulous utility for scum to manipulate things

-I roleblocked you, which would explain the stopped kill

I was actually thinking about roleblocking no one, as Town RB is a reeeeeeally marginal utility. More likely to block a Town PR in early days than do anything to scum.

But NSG hanging out on the AA9 wagon, plus active lurking all D1...figured it was worth a shot.
northsidegal wrote:

This point is meaningless unless you're also making the claim that mutant and/or vax, my scumbuddies, voted me fore it.
-I roleblocked you, which would explain the stopped kill
Do you truly believe it's the only explanation?
Actually, I ALSO scumread Mutant, but that's for another day. Vax I'm not so sure of anymore, as he was a main alternate to Vecna.

And my roleblock is AN explanation to the stopped kill, even if it isn't the ONLY one.

I feel like Town!NSG would recognize the necessity of following this thread, even if it's wrong. See my reaction to being accused of being a SK as the Vig in NY211. When you're Town and you're falsely accused with very solid reasons, you accept the necessity of your own non-survival.

PE: Also, I do not feel the "No VTs in this game" argument is valid. It's cheap and easy to slam this lynch home with, but I doubt it's true.
PE2: I just explained! Oh you haven't read this post yet. Get out of my head, Alibae.

I expect people to be honest with themselves in that a roleblocker being the only explanation for a lack of a nightkill isn't likely (and, fmpov, is confirmed false).
I would send NSG to do the kill if I was a wolf tbh.
That also factored in to my decision and the analysis of the no-kill. She makes sense.

Honestly D1 was mostly trash. I'd read from page 90 or so. That's when it got interesting.

Current analysis revolves around the trash wagon against your predecessor for lurking, with a lot of Townreads coming out of the last-minute flashwagon on scum Vecna.

I think you’re scum for these reasons. The fact that you lurked through D1, had scummy interaction with Vecna, and are stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the legitimacy of the points against you is icing.

It’s not that you don’t want to be lynched, or that you have a strategic difference, it’s the legitimacy attack on the points that is the problem. I mean, hell, you just did it again by boiling my case down to “Disagree with Reck”

You're going with Occam's Flint-knapped Spearhead. Classic.

I'd refute Titus fully, but pass. Her logic is 100% based on me being a lightning rod instead of roleblocker, which is dumb. Occam's says redirector.

-My roleclaim and push on NSG makes no sense as lightning rod
-Announcing the receipt of the Google Glass and demanding to know who sent it and its function makes no sense
-Why the hell wouldn't I just shut the fuck up as a LR?

Most importantly:

-Existence of a lightning rod would preclude the success of any protective or roleblocking ability to stop the kill. The fact that there was no kill is damn near proof that there is no lightning rod

Ergo, someone redirected Firebringer's actions to me.

Stop being obtuse

Also your suggestion that the votecounter role is negative utility for scum is false. The votecounter is allowed to lie and manipulate the count at will, and may further SECRETLY vote via their PT with UT

It's actually a rather strong role for scum, and if I were scum I'd have made sure we got it. There was no warning that the voting would be public, so it's entirely likely they all piled on to their choice. Makes me want to dismiss the pass I gave Vax for being an EOD wagon

Nope!

I just don’t see scum!Titus going this far out on a limb to push this dumb a theory.

See, coming up with a wild-ass theory is easy when you’re paranoid Town. Inventing a wild-ass theory as scum is hard...that’s why it’s easier to tell lies that are 90% truth.

Titus’s theory is eye-rolling dumb. But I think she believes it.

As I said before, thoroughly answering that would require sitting at a real computer and assembling quotes and examples and nonsense. Others have cited all of the above, though I’ll be happy to put it all together when I get home.

I’m in the hospital for the next two days. Maybe I’ll ask my sister to pick up my laptop when she feeds the cats and bring it today or tomorrow when she visits.
