What i meant was that if the cults hadn't already used their recruits, i doubted they would use them on someone who was still yet to post, even if that person was the immunization vote.

also, even just having someone get immunized is more important than making sure the immunization is on someone the cults would want to recruit (not to downplay your skill or anything, you just hadn't posted at all yet)

@People voting Venmar: why? He basically admitted that he was the one who stopped the Day prematurely. Yes, the play was boring but ending the Day without an immunization helps scum. Also he inderectly stated that he is in a cult. He said that in his opinion ALL town player have checked out and the ONLY ones still playing are cult. He is still playing. So his assumption only makes sense if he is cult.

OK. Looking at how the wagon developed either Nancy is scum and everyone from her team jumped on her wagon to speed it up. Or almost everyone is beyond caring and just wants this play phase to be done. Whatever, I would still prefer to be immunized myself but that's not going to happen in this game. So let's end this game one way or the other. If the immunization on Nancy is wasted, I'll just hope that Chick hit some scum when she used her shot. The game is probably anyhow won or lost by dumb luck deciding which PR actions go through. Not by the votes any more at this point.

To explain further: just that you got the majority of votes doesn't necessarily means that you're immunized. If some CL submitted a 'convert Nancy' action before the train finished, then the immunization is worthless. Actions are resolved in the order in which they are submitted and as far as I understood it, the 'hammer' counts as submission.

Honestly, I don't know. I wasn't immunized yet and the rules don't say if one gets a mod confirmation if the immunization worked. On the other hand, if you would have been recruited, you would have to be notified (hard to play scum if you don't know that you are scum). So you not getting any notification probably means that the immunization worked. Unless there is some scum PR around that can interfere with that. But that would feel kind of bastardy.

I just pointed out that the fact, that you got a majority doesn't mean that you are successfully immunized, because you still might be scum. But for the record, I tend to believe that you are clueless town and not scum acting clueless. Sure, I pointed out that that possibility exists. For completeness sake. But if your confusion is an act, it's a very good one. So probably you're neutral and will stay that for the rest of the game.

Unfortunately drealmer said at the beginning that there would be no prods. Combine that with the fact that there are no lynches and therefore we don't have any way of dealing with lurkers and you get the state that the game is in.

I see. The weekend has passed and we are no step closer to a successful vote. Srceenplay is stubbornly blocking the vote on TGP and since we are so few players by now, that ALL have to agree on a candidate to get anywhere, this play phase will not end. Also, Cerberus revealed that ALL our immunizations were void. Which means two things: 1) Scum know that now too and can get additional shots at converting us 'immunized' players. 2) The game will take even longer, since all 'immunized' players will have to be re-immunized or converted until the end condition is met.

So, basically we start all over again, only with as slightly worse start for town and all in all we are looking at another three months of nothing happening. I suggested this already twice and some were always supportive, but we didn't get a majority yet: let's abort the game and call it a draw! Perhaps we can do that now?

For the record, drealm...if you're actually bothering with reading your game(which, btw, your rule about not responding to in game things is basically simply an excuse to not have to actually moderate your game), then it's pretty ridiculous for you to *not* respond in any way to a clearly expressed desire by a number of players to change the way the game works or end it.

True. I just finished a game, where the mod was really hands on. After d1, that game had started to tank; due to people being unhappy with the SOD/EOD phases, the lack of a maj, and inactivity, So being proactive, he requested everyone pm him; if they wanted to change that. Things eventually got back on track, because even the VTs could smell the flavour in that game, and it wound up being one of the funnest games I’ve ever played. Of course, we always had a pretty good idea what was going on, and every player felt they had agency. A mod needs to listen to his/her players and help them to really understand their wincon and some idea, of the direction needed to acheive it. I think the idea (Rocky Horror Cult) was great in concept but ineffectively executed.

There was another game, which I wasn’t a part of where people really pretty much beat up on the mod. I felt really bad for him, because he did his best and handled the overwhelming chorus of dissatisfaction with class and a willingness to learn from his mistakes. I know D worked really hard on the concept of this game, but he needs to listen to the players; so he can hopefully learn from his mistake and fix any future design flaws in his games. The fact that he simply insults us and refuses to take any responsibility for the game’s execution; is really sad, for both him and all of the players.

Nancy, I'm really really sorry that this travesty of a game was one of your first experiences with the theme games we have on site.

Thanks for that. I was really excited for this game too but the worst part is his unnecessarily rude and dismissive reaction to all of the players who invested their time and energy in a game that was going nowhere. We deserve far better than to be mistreated this way, and the mod totally owes all of us an apology. I know, unless he does; I won’t be signing up for any more of his games. The #1 most important thing a mod needs to do; is to have respect for the people who sign up for and invest their time in their games. Ironically, in comparison to the players’ reaction to the failed game I referenced in my previous post; the players in this game behaved very respectfully, I think; so it makes D’s reaction, even more unwarrented and over the top.

Awhile back, one of my first interactions on-site with drealmerz included him talking up both his skills at playing the game as well as his ideas for setups.
I recall a deal of frustration at his hubris, but I ended up pocketing that. After all, if drealmerz could prove to be a really great player and moderator, that'd be a boon to the site.
While there are those of you who are saying they've sworn off ever signing up for something Drealmerz runs again, I'm of the mind that I'll sign up for anything he mods.
It's not because I've liked any of his games. Here and in Maplewood Village, there were so many critical parts of the game design and moderation that I fundamentally disagree with.
It's because I want drealmerz to grow into a great moderator.
It's for that reason that I hope Drealmerz is able to take the criticisms levied here and work forward into making an even better game in the future.

For reals though, conceptually all of Drealmerz games are pretty fucking cool, but (as he says in his PT) he has an obsession with keeping people uninformed about things, and expects them to enjoy not having any idea of what's going on.

*shrug* That's a pretty fundamental flaw to have in your game design philosophy.

I agree with everything you’ve said here; that was my main gripe with it. It was frustrating as hell, not to find out if our immunizations were successful or not and having to waste our time; trying to immunize people who can’t be; either because they were jailkept or recruited. I also agree with you about the PAUSE part of the game. Either lock the thread or gives us some RH flavour-related adventures or something to do; other than just make fluff posts. This game is kind of equivalent to playing regular Mafia and either never finding out if a lynch was sucessful or what the flip is.

Each player needs to have BOTH information and agency, in order to feel that they’re not wasting their time and be invested in the game.

Also, one of the reasons I signed up was for the flavour and I wound up feeling cheated by how little it impacted the game - if at all.

On the plus side, voting to immunize as opposed to voting to lynch; was a cool concept. That made the game, seem a lot less cutthroat than regular Mafia.

@Cerberus v666 , I in no way intended to blame you at all in my post. I understand you did the best you could; with the information or lack thereof; which you were given. Tbf, I think the main problem with your role; was that it was too broad in scope. You really have nothing to apologize for; as you were kind’ve put into a no-win situation as I see it. Wtf were you supposed to do really? You were put into a situation that can both help town, by blocking recruitments and simultaneously hurt town by also blocking immunizations. What the hell were you supposed to do? That’s why I’m saying that your role was too broad in scope and Drealmerz, accusing you of “playing against your wincon”, is bullshit, pretty much. What should have happened instead was for you to be able to only block recruitments not immunizations and have some restrictions with that role; so you have to chose your recruitment blocks carefully and then; Drealmerz should have informed us immediately the next game phase whether or not; a particular immunization was succesful or not.

nancydrew asked me questions and got some decent answers but now is acting like I didn't answer the questions and is still playing like she's in the dark???

she should be sharing the information she got with everyone, but instead is ignoring that she knows it

and she isn't paying attention to know that the immunize vote didn't go through or that her vote was still on venmar when things resumed.

It’s a fun read. Drealmerz has about 80% of the posts in there and 70% of those; are him slamming individual players for their gameplay. Riveting stuff.
