Echo Bay Grits SEO (41/41)

or,

everyone collectively has one bullet and you gotta reuse it to seriously slay each other
a spiritual sequel to my 2008 game ehobanohar, which itself stood for "everyone has one bullet and no one has a rope"

---

in the small, sleepy town of Echo Bay, Maryland, the two largest employers are Echo Bay Grits, a manufacturer of corn-based foodstuffs, and Echo Bay Munitions Co., a manufacturer of advanced weaponry. this is the story of one company's quest to improve their placement in search results on internet search engines and another company's quest to prevent their extremely illegal proprietary technology from ending up in the wrong hands.

---

Echo Bay Grits SEO is a game where the primary mechanic is daykilling other players. each day, each living player will have access to one kill, and the day will end when no one has a kill remaining. there will be one or more non-town factions, and at least one of those factions will have at least two players who know each others' identities. each non-town faction may have one or more traitors, here used to refer to a player who knows what faction they're a member of but not who else is a member of their faction. the non-traitor members of the non-town factions will know how many traitors their faction has. each night, each non-town faction will receive a kill to be performed by one of the non-traitor members; if they target one of their own traitors with this, that player will instead be converted to a non-traitor member. during the day, kills happen one at a time (meaning that if someone else has submitted a kill, you can't submit another one until the first role flips).

there is no cap on the number of players in this game. the setup will be designed once the number of players is locked in.

If I sign up twice, do I have 2 shots?
you just have to live to day 2 and then you'll have an additional shot! I'm sure you can manage that.

If everyone has a kill and the day doesnt end until all shots are used.... how is there a day 2? Will some people have other abilities?
"no one has a kill remaining" includes people who don't have a kill because they've died. in other words, somewhere around half (or fewer) of the players will remain when night 1 begins.

the only abilities in the game are the ones outlined in the opening post. keep in mind that this is a semi-open game where only the way factions are split up is unknown.

to clarify some confusion: day kills happen in the thread, and it's only possible to kill someone if there isn't an unflipped day kill (in other words, if I haven't gotten to the thread yet to announce the alignment of a killed player, you can type
kill: whomever
all you want, but it won't do anything, regardless of whether you are the one who just got killed).

I mean the game to which it is a spiritual sequel had 56 players so this is mild by comparison. I think the fact that this is still a setup dominated by day phases will help mitigate that -- there'll be someone who shoots someone the moment I unlock the thread, but that'll probably calm down pretty quickly.

anyway I'm gonna cut off signups in a couple days, maybe sometime Monday to give people the weekend! I didn't want to set a specific timeframe for that in advance because it's hard to guess what sort of momentum signups will have for this sort of thing before it happens, but that seems reasonable.

also I just copy pasted a bunch of "[*]"s so I wouldn't have to add those later, so the number listed in the OP shouldn't be interpreted to mean anything.

okay, I'm officially cutting off signups there! I will get work complete on the setup with Alisae as soon as possible and get roles out then!

if you're reading this in the future and wish to replace into this game, you can contact me by PM and I will put you on a list of people to potentially do that!
