You should definitely keep your reads close to your chest, as sharing them gives a huge amount of information to the spy.
The proper time to share them is... never, really. Just work on them privately and use them to inform who you ask and who you eventually vote (but if someone gives a blatant spy answer, don't immediately vote them or indicate that that's why you voted them because that gives information too).
