I think if the Geriatric thread causes a microcosm of the community to develop a higher standard of play it will have positive consequences throughout the site. If it doesn't, it's neutral.

I don't and never have understood arguments against it.

I think that people need to stop signing up for geriatric games with barely any time thinking that it being geriatric makes it fine to hard lurk.

Geriatric shouldnt mean lurker but in practice it had to a significant extent

ftr if you make it not nightless the chances of town winning are extremely extremely low

make it nightless nad the game is reasonably balanced.

I would also consider /inning if it was nightless
