I would say the "theme" was "Survivor the way it's actually played if you were stranded on a desert island," so it wasn't bland even if the characters were from the show. There's a lot of overlap between theme/concept for me.

Alternate idea: a mafiascum-themed Survivor game (along the lines of MS Fantasy Camp on the Mafia side).

We should probably each have experience as a comod first, though.

ITT: people don't believe that different things are relevant to different people.

(I grew up watching Dragonball and Dragonball Z, so it's very mainstream to me, but we're all weird nerds so our sense of relevancy is skewed. I would say Dragonball Z is much less obscure than Final Fantasy or Civilizarion or Blizzard games to a random person on the street.)
