I think one of the issues in Open Queue and maybe also the newbie queue is that Llama Fluff left as the mod March 30, we're nearing two months where Penguin Power is pulling double duties. He seems to be okay with it publicly, but if people are struggling to keep up with one queue, why is one person pulling double duty including the queue that needs to be handled efficiently to draw people in and keep them here?

The Newbie Queue should be considered the most important queue for the site, and I don't know that it is right now.

I don't want to sound extreme or anything, but, if mods ignore the concerns, should it be that the community members who like others here should find a new site?

I tried Mafia Universe, by the way, and did not like the style there nearly as much as I do here, but maybe we as players and active members need to literally jump ship as a wake up call to the people running the place.

I've still got membership to SA, but the mafia section for goons is pretty small last I checked.

I mostly like the LPs, don't think I've posted there in literal years.

The Mafia roles on the wiki are easier to use, by the way. I'd like to commend the wiki team on that. Ease of use of it has gone up in the short time I've been using it.

I would also like to point out, I don't know that the Open Queue itself is the issue with the Open Queue, now that I think about it. 4 open games are running right now, and with the current state, we seem to be able to run just 4-6 games at a time there. I'm not sure there are enough players right now.

I think the Open Queue needs to expand more as well. I inned to mod watchmen wanted partially because I had an idea to make it interesting, but also because I looked and thought how many times can we run stack the deck until we get sick of it? I chose one which has not been run in a while. Also, everyone seems to know when a setup is town or scum sided.

I have an idea which may or may not work. Maintaining separate queues, but make one master thread that has a listing of all the games that are in queue. It doesn't need much, but like one post that has like "Open 727 - 9 to 12 (9 players)" with a link the post where Penguin puts it up for signups.

You just centralize the information as a directory, so that people have a one stop thread to see what's in signups, whats been filled, etc.

Maybe don't include the Large Theme, maybe do, but it would certainly be more convenient as long as it was kept up to date.

I think the team just telling us what is in the works every couple of months would do loads for us. Quarterly reports are even bi-annual reports of what's going on would be great.

I don't like punishing someone at all for imbalanced games, like don't join their games if you personally have a problem with them, but I'm a big believer in the fact that the site should not get involved when a person is just bad at things. I mean, if someone intentionally lies and claims that it was reviewed and approved for balance, then turns it on its head, then action is warranted, but I know there are people still allowed to in to mod games after they lied when they posted the games in queues, and if they do not have official action against them, then there is no way we should be searching out people who make unbalanced games and ban them for what was possibly just an error in judgment.

The mini theme queue, which I legitimately didn't check that often before it's kind of an issue, I think. I don't check usually because games just sit there forever whether they fill up or not. We've got TGP's game, and nothing against him at all, but it's been on there for 25 days and has 4 of 13 signups.

It's supposed to be at TBone's discretion to keep games on there longer, but who are we kidding? If he wants to keep games open despite having one sign up a week, I don't understand why we are limiting the queue to two games in signups at a time.

I doubt I'll even bother designing a second mini theme game if this is what the queue is like.

The issue with things being done behind closed doors is that the average user doesn't know that things are being done. Even some sort of mod coming here and saying "we hear you, we are working on it" would be better than the absolute silence we've had. I don't think it's asking much to get that much.

I'll role PM standardize right here:

Welcome [Name] you are a [role] look up what you can do on the wiki and start playing already.

This is why when, as often as I'm able to, my role PM formatting will feature a link to a role.
E.g.
Mafia
Rolecop
,
Town
Cop
,
Alignment
Role
.

I can't always give it because sometimes I modify roles (if a role is sufficiently modified, linking to the wiki of the role may be misleading), sometimes there's no wiki for it, sometimes the wiki for it doesn't match even remotely the role I'm using because
the wiki
is out of date (this will soon be fixed tho), and on some very rare occasions, sometimes I simply wasn't aware that the role I was using actually had a wiki page and thought for sure it did not. But whenever I can, I do.
Stealing this idea.

Hey, mods can only mod one game at a time. I am modding my one game, and towards the end of the currently running game I'll start the design process on my next game so that it's a smooth transition.

But, yeah, we have a shortage in really every queue now, it's kind of sad.

this only applies for the mini themed and normal queues. by wording my understanding is that you can also have 2 micros, and a large themed at the same time as that.

Not to necro this old thread, but I think there might be a problem over in the Open Queue. There is a backlog of about 5 or 6 mods who have inned, and there is currently no game in sign ups.

I don't think anyone knew that they were in sign ups. Legit question for when I want to sign up for another, who announces that there is a new game in sign ups now?
