Resistance Game #3- 6p with Leadership

I thought I knew how his game works from reading the rules several times in the past, but now I'm just confused.
I've got that we want to send town (resistance) on the missions, but do we all vote to pick the team, or does a different leader choose them each time? The first and second post seem to disagree.

I think I've got it now.
The leader chooses, and we vote on that. If it doesn't pass, we go onto the next leader, and it is still the same day.
Later at night the people on the team vote pass or fail as to whether or not it actually goes through?

Have we actually started yet? I'll be around tomorrow a bit tomorrow, then seriously V/LA for a couple of days (less than 48 hours).

I like Bujaber's reasoning for sending any team. I haven't figured out how to read people yet, so that seems a reasonable way of finding information.

HEAL: Pine & BuJ

I reassess my previous post calling buj confscum. Either buj OR Pine is 100% scum here. I put the worst as stinky because he agreed with the mission so easily.

-Why would town Buj not want double scum on mission? It either passes (win), or it fails (boo, but info, yeaj), or it could give the mother of all jackpost double fail (gg). This is preferred to having 1 spy on mission.

-the worst correctly calls Buj out on that, but continues to agree with scummission: FOS

-Scum!Pine would not want double scum on mission, so he picks a town (this confirms Buj as town)
-Scum!Buj would not want double scum on mission, so he agrees this mission (this confirms Pine as town)
-Scumteam of Pine and Buj would not be setting up a double scum mission 1 because it can end VERY badly with little to gain.

Hence, one of Pine and Buj is scum if only by odds alone.

I see how this shows that they wouldn't both be scum, but not why one has to be. It doesn't seem to follow logically here.

Or is it that Buj seems scum because of the comment about not wanting double scum (reasonable read I suppose), but it's also possible that Pine is scum and picked a scummy looking townie to throw us off the track of who failed the mission?
That still doesn't make complete sense however. Why would town!Pine pick a scummy looking player? Unless he thinks a mission being failed is a fair price for finding scum, he's got to think Buj is town.
You can argue from one player being scum to the other being town. You can even reason scum!Pine from Town!Buj. But you can't reason Scum!Buj from Town!pine.

Pine and Icon if you agree to a pine/icon/buj mission we only need 1 vote with us and we can Nay 2 missions in a row to get to icon's turn.

Anybody who agrees and then betrays us when it's icon's turn would be scum claiming so it's as close to trust as we're going to get.

What are you trying to say here? Are you suggesting that team is sent, or chosen, but not actually sent? I'm not following.

I want that team sent. TW won't accept to be outside of a mission, that'd look suspicious. Nor would TGP. So we have to decline pick and skip to icon's turn. But we need a 4th person to agree to it too.

I understand what you're trying to do, but not why?

You want that team because it's likely to contain both scum and you're trying to catch them?

And you've since replaced Iconeum with TGP in your thinking?

@BuJaber Makes sense now. The first option doesn't seem bad, but the second one is certainly easier to pull off. But since TW is scum-reading you, he's not necessarily going to pick that team. I may vote for another team if I like it. If the team isn't sent, we could see if TPG will send TGP/Pine/TW. If it goes on to Ico picking, then I will vote pine/BuJ/Icon.

I just think scum give off a lot more clues when they have to win every point than when they don't.

They can't guarantee they win 3 in a row just because we don't know which of the 3 that passed mission 2 was actually scum. They can't guarantee they'll comvince town to vote with them.

The 6p game increases the margin of choosing a townie by random significantly. Even better odds with good reads and analysis. It is much riskier than 5p to give up 2 missions as scum.

That makes sense to me.
But so does Pine's point that it could be good to get information about TPG and Icon (And me, I don't need it, but you do).

Duck, are you going to nominate a team soon, or are we still all working things out?

Brie my team works with anyone. It just needs pine and me in it. TW is leader so it's his mission he gets to go. We have just as little info about him as we do about you, TGP and Icon

Does this mean that if TGP does not suggest a team which TW decided on, you will reject it? Making him delegate his job? That doesn't sound like anyway to make him happier with you. But then you said you only care about mechanics.

And what makes you trust TGP so much? We know nothing about him, and he's not been the most talkative character.

I'm pretty fine with this; to me it's kind of obvious that the scumteam is Brie/Buj, so any team that includes neither of them is fine by me.

Also if there's a sabotage I'll bet on Pine scum with either TB or Buj.

What makes you say that? What have I done that's so scummy?

Is it because Buj said I was town after I showed it made a heap for sense for Pine to be scum, than for him to be scum?

I can't see a reason why not to send this team. We'll get some information whatever happens, and I think TW has good judgement. Not sure I should trust him yet, but this is a way to dind out.

I had thought there was some rules about who could go on the next mission if it failed. I'll have to look at that. But it can't be what I thought because mechanically we must have one of the same people.

So since TGP thinks it's Buj and me, but he's deferring to Pine who thinks its buj and iconeum he's sending everyone else which includes two of the previous team members.

Err, well given that neither Buj or I were on the last team, we cannot be the spies. So why did TGP even say that?

And the worst called TGP scum, but agreed to his team. What brought that change, TW?

Pine is obviouly voting for it, and Buj is unsurprisingly voting against it.

Probably. But attempting to do it now, won't stop be from doing it tomorrow.

You're not objecting because it will still help us isolate the scum? Because there's fair chance that who ever picks the team we'll end up with scum on it, but they might not sabotage as to not get caught? Because Buj is next and you don't trust him entirely either? All possible reason.

If I'm going to okay the mission, is there any good reason to wait for Iconeum? Because he basically has to veto.

I'm running on lack of sleep though, and don't think it's the best state to make decisions in. But a quick decision might be a good decision.

If there's a scum in here, we'll have to be very careful going on. I don't trust Bujaber, but if he's town, and we get it wrong, I'll feel really stupid. Anyway, he doesn't seem sure about who out of pine/tgp/tw is scum, and anyone would have to send one of them, so I don't think we'd be better off vetoing this mission.

I will veto any mission which includes BuJaber. And probably anything TGP suggests.

The odd thing was that TW agreed to it despite not previously wanting anything to do with TPG.

Hmm, it seems to me that there's quite a reasonable chance of scum not sabotaging the first mission. At least if there's only one on the mission. Because if the first mission fails, we get fairly specific information.

Mission two a townie might vote if they felt confident about who was on it, but that probably won't happen?

Bu, that's all about how we should have played and not information especially relevant to the current game, right?

I am doubling down on my intention to veto any team involving BuJ. Do you guys not see how a complete lack of anyone prepared to oppose him (other than myself) practically screams that he is scum? If he were town, the easy path of least resistance would be to continue to oppose having him on the team. That would virtually guarantee a scum win. The lack of this sort of resistance is essentially a guarantee that he is scum.

If TGP was around that would be a valid argument. But as it is, unless TGP is purposely keeping quiet because Buj is scum, his lack of input indicates noting either way.
And you and TW(slightly) are opposing him being on the team.

Well you might still be able to approve it if you want. I'm not sure our votes are set until it passes or fails, or not.

That said, if TGP had okayed it, it might not go through. I would more than likely veto it. As it is, I want to think a little longer about the implications of TGP vetoing it. Or think a little less. I'm pretty sure the idea that TGP would do the opposite to he wants to happen is overthinking the matter. If he wanted it to go through it might be smarter to not say anything, but just swoop in with th last vote. Except maybe he has to post or he'll get prodded. Definitely overthinking now.

Iconeum: If you want it to go through, you'll have to heal it as well as making the nomination. You do know that right?

I really didn't do much manipulation. Mostly just kept under the radar and played along. It's easy when people weren't really asking me for reads. Besides I did do good at a scum game last year, but my partner was RadiantCowbells and we had day talk, so I'm not sure how that counts either.

And no risk of lynch meant less pressure on me. I don't cope well with pressure.

(besides, there's a high chance I'll finish up my current games and try to disappear again. Failed to do it permanently last time, but I might get away for six months)

I want to play real life Resistance someday. I do prefer real life Mafia to Forum Mafia. (Though a few weeks back I found I'm terrible at scum in RL too.)

Has anyone ever heard of The Thing? It's a Mafia sort of game with a cult like mechanism instead of a night kill, and lynches only go through if the target is guilty. It's fun but probably best in RL.

And I'm definitely in for more EIASK. Message me about it. (That's actually what go me back on site this time. I was messaged about EIASK.)

I'd like to try Resistance without the leader mechanic.

Actualy I didn't mean the Himalayas part. I'd probably feel very uncomfortable around most of you. And I don't really travel. And I'me saving all my money for writers conference, books and fabric. Or books and fabric stop me from saving. Anyhow, no real life meeting.

I've got friends I see on occasion who play it often and do the craziest narrating. And I've done with another young adult group who do the barest moderating.
