What the actual frick happened to this thread? The questions at the beginning were at least decent."Do I have permission to....refute some of the bs that Inferno just spewed out?"--TywinL

Category:Glossary (and for abbreviations, Commonly Used Abbreviations, which is part of the glossary; the abbreviations don't normally have individual entries). In post 208, BlackStar wrote:Is there a thread that lists all the commonly used terms here? It's less out of date than you might expect (I've been updating it sporadically) but there are still quite a few recent terms that are missing.scum· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·town- Umlaut

Is "X-Shot Vanilla Townie" a well-defined normal role? Or possibly "X-Shot Townie" in accordance with the usual tradition of modifiers replacing the word Vanillaa laBulletproof Townie.
(It would presumably just be a type of named townie.)“There are two kinds of people in this world: those who say, ‘There are two kinds of people in this world: those who say there are two kinds of people in this world, and the other kind,’ and those whodon’tsay. Another modifier question: Is there any precedent for a "cannot target the same player more than once" as a modifier? Is there a usual name for it?

I can't remember the name, but there actually IS a modifier, standardized with one name, that works exactly that way.In post 216, Umlaut wrote:Another modifier question: Is there any precedent for a "cannot target the same player more than once" as a modifier? Is there a usual name for it?
It was used in a bunch of games, mostly by a few moderators in particular, but I can't remember what the name was.
So it exists, and it exists with a standardized name even, I just can't remember it.- Gamma Emerald

Looks like that's right, or at least that name has been used for that modifier before. In post 219, Gamma Emerald wrote:I believe it was called Hideous?
New question! Is there a collection of relatively simple closed setups that are universally agreed to be balanced, that I or others can use as points of comparison when evaluating the balance of a new setup?“There are two kinds of people in this world: those who say, ‘There are two kinds of people in this world: those who say there are two kinds of people in this world, and the other kind,’ and those whodon’tsay. Not really (?)
You can check the archives I guess, and look at the open and semi-open setups. If you are doing a micro, the matrix6 stat info is a nice baseline for balancing. - Ircher
