Last time I played an MMO, leading my guild was the single #1 source of satisfaction I got out of the game. It was the reason I PLAYED the fucking game. I started it from scratch, and we got all the way up to 40man raids at one point. I loved everything about the process, the leading, the managing, etc. I didn't CARE that I wasn't in a top raiding guild or seeing all the endgame content, even though with my gear/time spent I could've been. I just liked that I had grown my guild myself, it gave me that human need of accomplishment.

So yeah, there aren't meant to be hard feelings, its just that a goal of mine for this game is to LEAD a guild. I was hoping to start with the MS playerbase and friends, but if I'm not wanted then I'll have to start my own.


And since apparently you can be members of multiple guilds I can always pop in for events and things.

This drama thing is being blown out of proportion (ohu MS), its a akin to saying "LOL FATES SUCH A PETTY ASS HE REFUSES TO ROLL A HUMAN WITH ALL OF US HES GOING TO STOMP AWAY AND ROLL A NORN." Well if I wanted to play this game in the first place to roll a Norn yeah that's what I'm going to do.

A 5870 might give you 25-30 FPS with no antialiasing, less in big WvW fights or group events. If you want smooth models and decent fps, you'll def need to upgrade. The game would be very playable at low low settings unless there's a driver incompatibility issue (ATI drivers seem hit or miss with GW2).

There's a good tom's hardware article benchmarking different graphics cards and recent drivers with Guild Wars 2.

There's also a VERY new beta driver (like <12 hours old) for some Nividia cards that really smooths out rendering and adds support for ambient occlusion (affects the way light/shadows are rendered around objects - I'm getting rings and and particles on a 660ti). Driver is really, really new so anyone with a supported card should test it out and help nvidia update for Guild Wars 2 support.

If you talk to me I can recommend you cards in a budget tier. At very least, check around and see if the card you're getting has good driver compatibility with GW2 specifically. Some drivers shit the bed.

30 was the only lvl I cared about getting so id have a dungeon to run with guildies and an elite for WvW.

Now lvls aren't important to me. The GAME is imporrtant, the EXPERIENCE is. Having fun together (aka lvling with staeg and nuwen rather than powering past them for... a number?), seeing all the places, hearing all the stories, having a pimp outfit, taking breaks to smash faces in. Shit matters. Priorities yo

Me and Staeg have raped it up in sPvP and got 2nd in a Free Tournament with some pubs, but everytime we've been on opposite teams (no way to queue on the same team except to switch sides or queue as 5 for tourny mode) I've raped his face off so we've established Rangers > Warriors

what kind of ranger? (weapon) ?

Two builds have worked really well for me.

Glass cannon full Power/Crit with 30 Marksmanship, 20 Skirmishing, and the last 20 personal preference, with Long Bow/Short Bow sets is pretty damn effective. There's something that counters it hard but I'll keep that under wraps >.>, but I've been able to kite Warriors/Guardians (and Thieves on a good day 1v1) for days, and EXPLODE squishy casters who can't out dps me.

I use that when roaming with a group/Staeg and can just unload and no one wants to try to bother to reach me and goes for other targets.

For a more "solo defender ninja" build the cookie cutter condition build with Axe/TORCH (not Warhorn that's for scrubs) and Shortbow with plenty of Toughness/Condition and 3 trap utilities. I've 1v2ed with this build and won (well it was more like a conga line of failure with the 2nd one showing up just as the first was going to die, and it was a Warrior/Guardian so trolol)

This build gets raped in 3v3s or 4v4s, because you just die when you get into (near) melee range to set down traps even with the extra toughness in the build, so you either lose out on trap dps by staying at range (which is probably how I should play it, but I like to set traps on points), or lose out on dps by dying to put down 3 traps.
