Steam Sale

This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games
(board, card, video, we're not picky)
.
Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

it's a good game but it isn't Bastion. :)

Idk, I'm looking at this steam sale and overwhelmed with options I don't know if I want. We'll see.

I have to say, this is why I miss scumchat. JD/izzy got me on some oddball picks that I would never have considered but ended up being great.

I apparently heard about the last from last sale or the one before, it's on my wishlist somehow. I'll have a look at the others!

Then I tried Batman Arkham Knight. Same story.

Ended up buying The Witness since I can get that to run at a smooth 60. Looking forwards to it!
oh you poor thing.

(it has good points about it. And one massive bad point.)

By any chance, does it have a really vague and "open for interpretation" ending to its story? Honestly, I go into most indie games expecting that at this point. Thankfully, plot isn't really a huge deal to me unless the plot is a key part of the game, and I am absolutely loving the puzzles in the Witness so far.
I'd settle for vague and open to interpretation. The ending is rubbish. The rest of the game is fine. But it's like you have a 7 course dinner and you loved the starters, the main courses, and you get to the last course, dessert!

And then they forcefeed you a turd and you barf everything you've had up again.

(there, I saved your experience of it by lowering your expectations, enjoy ;) )

Some of their best titles are amongst them, you hardly have to be ashamed for liking it. Don't feel forced to play them all. Also don't feel ashamed for not playing warhammer total war. Just claim it's not hardcore enough for you ;)

In post 99, Davsto wrote:didn't stellaris hike up the price of the game and dlc so it basically costs the same now as it did before the sale?
This was currency related, I think. Should have no difference for the majority of us, but in the UK it might have had a result. They backtracked here as well, as far as I know, apologizing for the poor communication. But this is in the pipeline again, probably.

I worked it out for EU4's dlc's. USA and EU were excluded from price changes, and in the other countries it looked like an update for currency effects, but they revoked that for the time being.

As for this sale, 2 eu4 dlc's are the majority of the damage for me, totally loving them in the game I'm playing right now. Picked up TIS-100 because I finished Spacechem (and loved it) so another puzzler from the same producer seemed like a safe bet. Initial impressions are that it's perfect for me. I'm going to love that. For 3.50 and knowing I had 70 hours in Spacechem, seemed pretty worth it.

There's always the danger with this that you name good games everybody already knows about and owns (say FTL), but say I don't care about that, given that I'd usually put Portal 2 in that category too:

Sacrifice is an old game. Good story, good replayability, good voice acting. Graphics did not age well, gameplay has its moments. Would recommend it to everybody. €5
Psychonauts is a slightly younger title, cute 3d platformer, nice level design, probably a modern classic? €1.50
Bastion, talking about modern classics, is a top down 2d hack and slash game with an awesome narrator and ambiance, goes for €3.75
Braid, 2d platformer-time manipulation puzzler, with a nice story. €4.50
Spacechem, one of Zachtronics many games, all in the same genre (and I don't know which is best rated, so maybe have a look), programming style puzzles, this time with machines that make molecules. Loved it: €2.50
Spec Ops: The Line. It plays like any other FPS, but it's not like them. I'm not a FPS player myself, but this campaign blew me away. Properly daring, properly awesome. Like sacrifice, it got great reviews and less great sales numbers. €4
