Honestly it's a pretty solid scum strategy. You have an 80% chance of having an unassailable vote on Town.

In post 98, Mathdino wrote:Screw that. Compromise lynches are fundamentally non-random. The only way they can go through is if scum agree to be a part of it. Unless there's the rare situation in which all players available to compromise are town and somehow the lynch is on town.
In other words, in asking me to compromise on Nico, you're asking me to believe that the entire town is {Ausuka, N_M, Pine, Mathdino}.

No, if Nico is possible to lynch, that heavily indicates town to me.

Non-random lynches in this setup are HIGHLY likely to land on town because of that extra control scum have, given that they can just stonewall a lynch.

I want my random lynch. N_M not hammering is problematic as fuck.
What I'm ASKING is to not have the entire town lose half a point. I'd rather mislynch and give it another shot D2 than have that happen.

Your aversion to this is concerning.
In post 99, Not_Mafia wrote:Oh yeah the random thing

Random lynching is against the spirit of the game, we might as well just not play

Yes it does matter if we lose half a point. This is a series of nine games. Given that the trend will be to flatten everyone out to some average number over the course of that many iterations, half a point will matter for the long game.

Stop thinking with your RNG.

I don't agree with your assessment. It assumes that everyone follows the strategy, and everyone follows the same roll. The fact that you're the only one inclined to do so invalidates the strategy. Period.

Also Ausuka not self-hammering at EOD is absolutely a scumclaim.
Never mind, ninjaed. Please follow through if you want to retain credibility, Ausuka.

Not upset, really. That just went from winnable to lost in a big lazy hurry.

Hammer testing people like that is really risky. You essentially repeatedly gambled the game on people being Town and got lucky that NM and I weren’t around to take advantage.

Crossvotes only work in 3p LYLO. This is 5p. Coordinating a quickhammer with a partner is harder than it looks. You're frivolously clearing people, and working this angle way too hard. It does not work that way.

I'm mainly just afraid of a Pine/Ausuka pairing here. Haven't quite ruled that out.

Actually, in reviewing Nico, her only substantive contributions to Game 2 have been her naked votes. That’s minimalist scum.

I’ll vote now, for two reasons. One, I want to assure RF that I’m not hedging my bets here, I’m willing to take the risk on him. Two, if I’m wrong about Nico, it doesn’t matter whether RF hammers or Math, and I’d rather get it over with if I’m wrong.

Between games, when no one is either scum or Town, we need to have a discussion of tactics. The bullshit Math is pushing is bad Townplay, and he’s done it now as both Town and scum.

VOTE: Nico

We can talk about it between games.

Lack of hammer confirms Math/Nico.

THAT, by the way, is how you confirm something. L-1, not L-2.

What the fuck? No we didn't.

And I don't think you're lying about mechanics, I think you're honestly wrong about strategy. Again, you've pushed this bullshit L-2 clearing thing twice now, and at least the first time you were Town. It just plain doesn't work the way you're talking about!

And at this point, Math is just trying to lobby RF instead of actually engaging me.

Also, another nonsense thing - he's sarcastically talking about how I had "suspiciously perfect reads" this game, but ignoring the fact that I was wrongly on NM. He's flailing really hard to distract from a scummy partner.

PE: I'm not voting you on policy. Don't put words in my mouth AGAIN. I voted you because spewing bullshit is scummy.

Okay

Game is over, no angles.

You have *got* to stop giving people clears when they get one vote on them. Yeah, scum could coordinate a quickhammer, but ONLY if it's TvT, and ONLY if they can find time to be on together. That's sometimes like pulling teeth. It simply isn't reliable.

So it's soft confirmation at best. The only way to be sure is at L-1 when someone declines to hammer, and then you are very much risking the game on it.

Yeah, the grammatical error in that proves it isn't my post. I don't make obvious errors like that. You've taken something I did say, and changed it to say something entirely different.

Th original quote and context:

Redflavor: I hope they dont mock us because we literally could not hammer nm and I convinced Ausuka to unvote

Also I don't even know what doctored means so your argument is invalid

No, scumchats are not public. The fact that it's still labeled "Private thread" and tinted the dark color is a clue.

VOTE: RedFlavor
I think this is the full discussion. RF misquoted and altered stuff from our PT last game to frame me, and called me a liar when I disputed it. When I pushed, he said it was a joke, but is still voting me.

It's a botched scum frame.

There are seven games. "Everyone is scum at least once" is not unfair, and frankly, pretty typical given a 1/3 chance every time. I don't really remember mathematical combinations that well, but I'd imagine the odds of never being scum to be pretty low.

So if RC is crying foul when he's guaranteed to be scum in at least one of four games (counting present), that smacks of "scum caught for wrong reasons." With his stonewalling regarding RedFlavor, I have a feeling it's RC/RF.

PE: And also his absolute bullshit OMGUS on NM now.

VOTE: RC

I'm happy with either lynch, as Mafia are lovers.

Jesus fucking shit on a cracker.

Nico, what the fuck are you doing? RC's suggestions that throwing one game for the sake of the others is grade-A nonsense. All it does is lose you a point.

And seriously, people, when someone is blatantly fabricating lies, you lynch the shit out of them. I should have been handed an RF mislynch on a golden platter.

Not much to say. Every game is new, and this one hasn't started yet.

The most important thing to know is that the scum are not random; xyzzy is picking. Thus, the only really relevant things from previous games (imho) is who has been scum and with whom.

G1 - Pine + Not_Mafia - Town win
G2 - Pine + Ausuka - Scum win
G3 - Pine + RedFlavor - Scum win
G4 - Pine + Nico (you) - Town win
G5 - RC + Nico (you) - Scum win
G6 - Pine + RC - Scum win

Takeaways: Town winrate is awful, and I've been scum with everyone, round-robin style. This is my second game of seven as Town, and I'll be damned if I'm going to lose this one too.

--Scumrates--
Pine: 5/6 (5/7)
NM: 1/6
Ausuka: 1/6
RF: 1/6
Nico/Chick: 2/6
MathDino/RC: 2/6

I'm interested in lynching {NM, Ausuka, RF}. As much as I want to lynch RC and hope he's scum so we can tie in the overall standings, I think he has a high EV of being Town.

-_-

The fact that at least one of NM, Ausuka, and RF are Town is super depressing.

Stop gamethrowing, guys. Make good cases, make joke cases, but don't make shitty cases.

Dude, RC's vote was terribad. I may need to vote him for it.

We're in LYLO though, so I need to look at things carefully, not from my phone.

It's not that you were better, it's that they were specifically bad. And frankly, your vote there lumps you in with the baddies if you're Town. It was ridiculously ill-considered.

Well, probably. Sorry, last post was kneejerk glibness. I need to re-evaluate in light of EOD Chickadee shenanigans.

Hence why I labeled it as glib, and apologized for the flippancy.

BOP, among other things. Also the fact that yours was out of the blue, and the others were already scummy for other reasons. I'll post more later guys, stop pestering me. We have time.

That's not actually what I said. You're the highest skill and raw talent, so I expect better out of you.

...Actually that's probably a solid reason to think you wouldn't do that as scum.

Fuck, I hate when I talk myself out of stuff. This is why I held off on voting until I could think more.

Seriously, I've got almost 300 kids and staff here this week. Gimme time. There's no rush.

It's not, actually. The important question is why you were scumreading her. There was nothing scummy about her. She was totally null, and you teamed up with actively scummy people to lynch her for...what? A bullshit notion that she had to be scum based on an obvious misinterpretation of the rules? RF's blatant OMGUSing of her? Ausuka's opportunism?

...Actually, I'm calling it. RF/Ausuka. NM's odd behavior I can attribute to his weird playstyle, your lolvoting fits you, but their D1 behavior does not make sense.

Putting my money where my mouth is.

But you want to give this a pass and call it scumhunting? Chickadee was in no hurry, to the point of laziness, but the above is actively scummy.

Because that's what he always does. I officially can't read him.

I can, however, read RF and Ausuka, and they're scum.

Well, he accepted your vote for "Deedles."

So yeah, NM/RC, then? Fuck. I was on the right track and talked myself out of it.
